Glad to be of help! Yes, this applies for many other games too like FIFA where often disabling V-Sync in game and then enabling it via the Control Panel fixes the lag/stuttering issues.
Btw, I now have a 165Hz AOC 2K monitor and the same procedure applies. I used to run this 60fps on 3840x2160 4K resolution using Samsung U28E590 4K monitor that died after 7 years in August 2022 before upgrading to the new 165Hz AOC monitor.
Interestingly I am able to play the game with 165 frames per second on 2560x1440 resolution using my same GTX 960 4GB graphics card. Dead Space is really very well optimised and GPU friendly!
You can also do the same setting change using Nvidia Profile Inspector and the Nvidia Display Control Panel doesn't even need to run in the background. It can be set to manual or disabled and the settings will still be remembered as those settings will be stored in the kernel memory system.
Adding a couple of useful resources to new visitors that I thought covered most the issues
Though this does not show a thorough solution to my problem and it is hard to read, it is comprehensive:

I use steam so this was the best guide I found on there - gives a good description of how to fix the fps (invisible wall) bugs, amongst other things:
