Dead Space - unable to delete old saves "save failed"

Been playing the Dead Space remake on PS5, and a habbit I have always had when playing games is making a separate save rather than overwriting old saves.

During Chapter 7 of the game I attempted to save once  and received an error of "save failed due to insufficient space."

I checked my system storage and had plenty of space (over 100gb). I can overwrite old saves but cannot make a new save. This was fine for most of the game until I got to the end of the game. It didn't save my progress and would not allow me to start new game plus. After the game was finished and the credits rolled I got the same error "save failed due to insufficient space." In totalt I have 51 saves in the load menu list to pick from and I see no way to delete individual ones to see if that would correct the issue.

I restarted the game and my system multiple times, tried messing with the cloud save and turning that on and off and still no luck" it seems like there is no way for me to actually save my game after completion and starting new game plus.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • I had this problem as well and the solution was the stupidest thing. The game automatically assumes that there is no space if it detects a 90th save file. Even if you have deleted other save files, as long as there is a file with the number 90 on the side, it will continue to think there is no space. I deleted my 90th file and a few more of them just to see if it would work and it did.
