Yes to starting a new game from scrach. But before you do that try to reinstale the game data onder game data utility. If that dose not work got to safe mode on ps3 and try restore systom files you won't loss any data. If it still dose not work then go back to safe mode and restore data base also won't loss any thing if you have music in albams you might have to re organize them. To get to safe mode you will have to hold the power boton down till you here two sepert beeps. then ps3 will go off and then you will hold the power botton agin and you will here one beep falowed by three more on the thered beep relese your finger. If that dont work then back up your save file and then once it is backed up delete your file that is freezing and then start a new game and see what happins. That is what I did when this happined to me but it is a slim chance that safe mode and reinstalling the data will work but worth a try. Most likly you will have to do the last opshon.
At the top of this page, click on dead space 3. look at the list of threads. check out the one that is now 31 pages long with 240 or so complaints and "suggested" fixes. none work for more than a short while. Best luck i have had was to delete all the game dats, do NOT connect to internet or let the game update. STAY offline while you play. I think you will see that progress saving points are timed slightly different. seems that if you are online there is a definite lag time even in single player mode. You can really see the difference at the loading screen that usually seems to freeze your system for about 20 seconds at the warning screen telling you not to shut off during an autosave. Offline as soon as you push the x it goes right to the game screen. almost seems like the game is constantly sending usage stats back to ea possibly??
