Dead Space 3 Save Problem
When I load up a saved game in Dead Space 3, I do not end up in the exact place I save and exit, nor do I start anywhere near my last location. Can you please fix this problem?

THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! About a week ago, I was playing deadspace 3, when I accidentally disconnected from Xbox live during the game. It did this once before when the game had an update, so I assumed another update was in. So I decided to comtinue playing off line and reach a good save point, go to the main menu, get the update, then go into the game again. I reached my save point, after finishing being locked in a cage by Robert Norton, I saved and exited the game. I discovered that there was no update, so I re-connected to Xbox live, and rejoined my game only to discover that it set me back in the game to before opening up the specimen. I have tried to go back to my actual save, but I cannot. This angered me extremely, and couldn't play the game for quite a long time. I just want this to NEVER happen again.
This game has frozen so many times I am afraid to even try it again. after nuerous freezes and save files being corrupted I deleted all the saves, deleted the GAME DATA from the ps3, redownloaded the addons i bought and reinstalled the game and did the 1.02 update. (trophy list change?) Game still freezes on elevators, autosave points, objective added points, and just about wherever it wants. Save files get corrupted and progress reset to zero- but it will let you "continue from last uninterrupted save point" I made copied of "good saves" after quitting the game for the day and have benn able to reload those and continue from a chapter or 2 back. sometimes i can get a few "progress saving points farther. Even tried playing on a defferent ps3 console as a different username. sooner or later - same problem. I am on my SECOND ds3 disc. same freezing problem. I give up. necromorphs and EA (who has my money) win. I am defeated.
about 8 hours of playing
now I cant see any of my save game...
EA, do something!
Fixes?
1. conning tower mission. wait until you get to aft section or a second " progress saving" point to quit and save. then you should not have to repeat conning tower mission.
2. after experiencing so may freezes and corrupted save files I started to save and quit at almost every "progress saving point. I would copy that "good save " to a flash drive so the next inevitable crash would not destroy all my progress. I could delete the bad save and reload my save from a flash drive. Had to restart a few save points back but that was better than restarting the whole game. After a few successful restarts using this method i found that the game would again freeze at EXACTLY the same point again after restart. ARRRRRGGGH.!!!!!
3. LATEST "FIX". I wondered if theses freezes were actually corrupting not only my save files but the GAME DATA files also. Assuming (right/wrong?) that my flash drive save was a"good" save- when the game freezes I now delete the GAME DATA file , delete the existing save files on my ps3 / reinstall the game (update 1.02) and redownload my add ons. reinstall my save files from the flash drive. I have actually made to level 12 now (again) and successfully made it out of the optional armory mission. Keeping my fingers crossed for luck.
4. as aside note- If you are going to load a save file from a flash drive you are better off if you delete the save from your ps3 first. then load the save. do not choose the overwrite option as this will not necessarily remove any bad data from the corrupted save. Just a thought.
Final Thought. Isn't it ridiculous to have to go through this just to be able to play a game? Why was the SAVE AND QUIT changed to save INVENTORY and quit and who knows where the game would resume?
I'm having the same exact issue. Before I found this thread the only responses I found on the web were people explaining that the "save and quit" option was for the inventory only, and that the game had automatic checkpoints that would save your mission progress. Uggggh. We know! Again, my issue seems to be the same as you folks'. When I first noticed a saving problem I made sure to wait until the auto-save messages appears on my screen before quitting so I didn't lose any progress. (I have the PC version as well).
I first noticed the issue with the Conning tower optional mission. I understand that there may or may not be a seperate, additional issue that doesn't save the optional mission progress correctly too. True or not, I completely gave up on optional missions because of these issues. Even sticking the mandatory missions, I'll notice that when I return to the game I'm usually at least 30 minutes behind where my actual progress left off. And yes, that's after waiting until the game notifies me that mission progress is being saved automatically each time. This is so frustrating. It seems like the only way I can make it through this game is if I play it in 4 hour increments. I don't know if I even have the patience to finish it at this point.@vpciro wrote:
This worked for me. You might want to try it.
- Open Origin and go to "My Games".
- Right Click on Dead Space 3.
- Select "Show Game Details".
- Select the "Cloud Storage" Tab.
- UN-CHECK the box that says "Enable Cloud Storage for All Games"
I play as a single player and this worked for me. I guess my saved games are now on my hard drive and that's fine with me. At least I can pick up where I left off after a save. I am not sure if and how this might affect Multiple player games.
Before I did this, I was ready to return the game. I had to play parts over and over again. I think there is a serious problem with the "cloud" storage. That's the only thing I can think of.

I'm going to try this as well. I wish I remembered what game I was playing recently that also had a cloud-based save mechanism. I ran into a problem a couple of times where apparently it didn't save back to the cloud properly. You know what happened the next time I played though? The game AUTOMATICALLY PROMPTED me and let me know exactly what the issue was. Each time it happened I was able to choose the option to use the saved game that was on my local hard drive, rather than the cloud. Worked perfectly. I wish this game had the foresight to implement something like this.
