I do have this problem as well, though I never had the opportunity to play. I only get 10 to 30 seconds into the very first cutscene before my entire system freezes. Before going through the goose chase, I was getting that error and the game would simply crash.
Anyways, you'll probably need to post your DxDiag.
I was playing on high settings with absolutely no problems with 17 hours of total gameplay, until the first patch came around.
