"DXGI_ERROR_NOT_CURRENTLY_AVAILABLE" Error

Hi everyone, 

We've seen some reports from players running into a "DXGI_ERROR_NOT_CURRENTLY_AVAILABLE" error when attempting to play Dead Space. Rolling back your GPU drivers to a previous version should help with this. We recommend rolling back to the following driver versions: 

  • AMD: version 22.5.1
  • NVIDIA: version 527.37

If you're an NVIDIA user you can find more info on how to roll back your drivers at the NVIDIA website.

For AMD users, you should be able to download the specific driver version mentioned above from the AMD driver website. When you locate the drivers for your GPU, you may need to click "Previous Drivers" to see older releases. When installing the driver, choose the "clean install" option. That will remove the currently installed driver and replace it with the version you've downloaded. 

If you're still running into the same error after rolling back your drivers, please reply to this thread and attach a DxDiag file. You can find more information on how to grab your DxDiag at the EA Help website. Once you have the text file please attach it to your reply in this thread.

    After this most recent patch, dozens of suggestions from both EA and various sources, this game is still causing GPU issues. In my case, my GPU just stops working. Attached would be the crash dump from the last time I got a DirectX failure, but it is an unsupported file. Now I get silent failures where my outputs freeze, the voices will continue to the end of their sentence, and the audio will continue to the end of their file.

    Using WinDbg to open the crash dump and running `!analyze -v`, the crash (and all the prior crashes) were caused by Dead Space:

    PROCESS_NAME:  Dead Space.exe

ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0x887a0006 - The GPU will not respond to more commands, most likely because of an invalid command passed by the calling application.

    This is a HUGE problem with compatibility, EA.

    what fixed it for me was deleting the Dead Space (2023) folder in documents

    @Errant_Cipher Agreed, I've updated the patch, rolled back the drivers on my GPU, set up 'clean-boot', and done everything that they've recommended. Still cannot make it further than 10 seconds into the very first cutscene.

    Exactly @squiddlestiks ! I have also submitted bug reports to AMD in hopes of a timely turn round. Been a long fan of the series and was very excited that they brought back Gunner Wright. D@mn shame to see it get sabotaged at launch like this. I have tried hunting around on forums for alternative solutions but nothing seems concrete, it doesn't seem to matter if someone has AMD or Nvidia. I find that particularly interesting and leading to the likely culprit.

    I'll check back with every game or driver update. Also keep ya posted if I find alternative solution that isn't insane.

    @EA_Kentno dice on today's current update.

    @Errant_Cipher I also hope that they find a solution for us. The last few patches have left me worse off than before. I'd prefer if the game just crashed, but I get full system freezes. I keep checking the forum hoping something has changed

    I must say that the problem got worse for me too with the patches because now the game/graphicsdriver crashes right at the beginning before the last savegame has even been loaded.

    Same thing for me and it all started when the first patch came out so it is not my hardware.  Before that I had 17 hrs of gameplay without any issues.

    Rolling back drivers doesn't work and is a waste of time and my GPU is not overclocked neither.
