Flying bodies

Dear EA support,

Today, just a few minutes before this post, I purchased a copy of Dead Space 3. The game is great, looks great, and runs great, except for one tiny issue:

Every single (dead) body in the game, whether I shot it or it was already there, starts bouncing all over the place like crazy.

Imagine a body on the floor, and it starts flying as if somebody picked it up by clicking on it, and then shaking the mouse in every direction as fast as possible: That's what's happening in my Dead Space.

It breaks immersion, it's INCREDIBLY noisy as they keep bouncing off walls, and it looks to be a physics problem.

My DirectX and the like are updated, my graph. Drivers are as well.

My specs, from DXDIAG. I didn't paste the entire thing, so I hope it's sufficient.

I hope it's possible to fix this on my end, though if I may take a guess, it's probably an incompatibility with my graphics card.

If it's hard to imagine this issue I can record it or takes screenshots of it as required.

Edit: I should mention this is for the PC version of the game. Apologies.

Thank you for your time,

Martijn

I had this issue as well, very irritating. I was able to fix it by disabling vsync in game, and enabling it in nvidia control panel, so i get a smooth 120 frames and no flying corpses. I'm unfamiliar with ATI cards, but I would assume the same thing will work.

  • I haven't played enough to be sure, but it seems turning on VSync fixes the problem. I turned it off to get rid of the 30FPS limit, but that may have been the cause.

I'll continue playing until I'm sure.

I have also had this problem. Body flying everywhere, definitely a physx fail or whatever it is, the sound of it is just ridiculously annoying too.

  • Thanks for the replies. Turning on Vsync has indeed fixed the problem, and masrinkowl gave some really good advice I didn't think of.

I'm really happy, as now Dead Space 3 is up and running in full glory, and I was planning to play the entire game in co-op tomorrow. Thanks to all, and I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do! 😕mileyvery-happy:
