Game Breaking Crash: Chapter 10, Repeatedly Crashes at Z-Ball Door

I haven't had many crashes with Dead Space, but one that I've had repeat several times is at the Z-Ball door. If I go into the Z-ball room and then try to leave is stutters for a brief moment and then completely crashes. I haven't found anything else on this. I can go no farther in the game. I'm assuming it's something graphics related.

In another forum, someone suggested it was the save game file itself and to load a save prior too and work your way there again or even use an auto save just before since sometimes Steam files can become corrupt.

Unfortunately, trying the 5 previous manuals saves and 2 prior autosaves didn't work. It only happens if I enter the room. It has the one brief auto stutter and then complete crash.
