Guide on how to disable your Xbox 360/One gamepad+button layout - Dead Space PC!
Currently I am playing Dead Space 1 Retail PC DVD version on Windows 10.
I have only just started playing this game on PC after a while and I was having trouble disabling the Xbox One Controller button layout. I used to have this very same problem in the past for Hunted the Demon's Forge and I posted my solution on the Steam sub forums around 6 years ago which apparently helped me once again solve the problem with this game as well.
By default in this game as well as in a few other games on PC the gamepad is the default controller. Meaning you still have the 360/One gamepad layouts instead of the keyboard button layouts. But for those like myself who don't use a gamepad for this game and want to disable it without unplugging the controller each and every time. Here's the solution to this issue.
Firstly you want to download this small modification. http://jotti.org/nox360.zip
Then what you need to do is extract all these 5 files into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Dead Space installation directory. It should be the same for both the Retail version, Steam and Origin. I have the Retail DVD version as well as the game registered on Origin. You just have to place these files in your Dead Space installation folder.
This then fools the game into thinking that there's no gamepad controller plugged in. That way you can now play the game with default keyboard button layout without having to go through the hassle of unplugging your gamepad controller every time from your PC! I hope this helps everyone! 🙂
