Honestly I have seen several of these posts and all the info about port fowarding certain ports disabling firewalls etc don't work.  The only thing I have found to work is to completely remove your router and connect your pc to your modem directly.  Its not a good solution, but as far as I can tell its the only one that works.  In most cases people can't do this because they share the internet with people in their homes.  I really hope EA can come up with a solution quickly.  No other game I have played requires you to do so much just to play the game online from your pc.

thats possibly a solution for PC gamers. i specifically wrote in the name of this thread "PS3 Dead Space 3" which i dont know why any connection issue would be present for a console game. the only time i would see any issue like that would be a problem with the server, so i am blaming EA on this problem here. 

I can still connect to other people and people are still able to connect to mine however my friend and i can't connect to one other which i find really wierd...

connecting cable directly to pc is not working  for me and my friend. we see eachother, but can't connect. i can play with any random people but friend. dunno whats problem is, we both have stable IP adresses..

Me and my friend tried again and it still wont work on our ps3's can still connect to random people but not my buddy this is very irritating and I don't like the fact that EA seems to be ignoring the problem  and since iv seen people with the same problem on their PC's too I feel its definitely on EA'S end and we can't even get a we are working on it from them😕mileysad:

same problem here. was able to play with a friend on co-op pc for a week but now it keeps returning with "failed to make connection" ... however i am able to connect to other non-friend players via "quick match" WTF is going on!

Same issue with my mate and I we are using PC... Would never have this problem with steam...

considering there never seems to be people in here from EA other than eabastian I'd have to say , no, they dont care. I would very much like them to come in here and prove me wrong tho, in fact I'm begging them too

EA's support is sereously the worst ever... No response, 1 singe "advice" on how to "fix" this error (which doesn't work for anybody), no statement on when, how or even IF this crap is going to be fixed. My friend and I bought this friggin game just so we could play it in coop and now it doesn't work cause of some retarded NAT-type sh*t... If we had know that, we won't have paid a single penny for another game ruined by EA. This will be the last time I bought some EA crap.

Hey guys i just SOLVE THIS PROBLEM !!!!!

So all you need is ask you internet provider if you have public IP adress !! Thats it. Ask them about change your  IP adress to public IP adrees and then make settings on your router with information  they have to give you (you need have static IP on your router, so u need new information about it, but only one who can help you is your internet provider)

When they change your ip to public ip you need this information from your provider:

Static IP

Subnet Mask

Gateway

DNS 1

DNS 2

Then get ip of yous PS3 (you find it in network setting list in your ps3) to the DMZ on your router.

When i did the configuration i could join my friend right away.

Im from czech republic (its in europe😉 ) and my provider knew how to do it, so it cant be problem to do it in US or anywhere 😉

pitrs101,  glad you fixed it,   but most of us already have a public ip.  And still it wont work,  not even if the PC is connected directly to the modem and getting the public ip....   And we shouldnt have to do all this to play the game,   EA should take responsebility and fix the **bleep** game so it answers to the port specified,  coz it doesnt....

I can set up a program and open the specified ports and get answers back with network monitors soft,  but deadspace simply doesnt answer to those ports... 

Its very simple,  ea just dont care,  but for me i can atleast tell that this game is the last one i ever bought from ea.  Ill keep trying to get it to work,   but never ea again!  It would have been 100% ok if they cared and worked on this problem,  but they just ignore it.

If its a patch im missing or diffrence in software,  i dont know... and more important:  Its NOT my problem as i payed for this game

Well seems that I managed to get it work by turning of my Firewall, (using Norton) and I also connected my laptop directly to my modem, we tested it maybe 10 times to see if it still works, by kicking my friend and re-inviting him to the lobby and it worked, hope this helps, EA should really give us some info on this..

Edit: PC user.

My friend and I can both join random games, or even host games and random people will join successfully. But we can't join each other no matter what we try. Our names will show up together in the game lobby, but then the "Failed to join game" error will come up.

This is on PS3, with no other connectivity issues between us. It's just Dead Space 3. We both tried setting up a DMZ on our routers, and then tried forwarding all the ports that were recommended elsewhere by EA. No luck.

I bought two copies of the game just so we could play online together. So far we've just spent 4 hours troubleshooting connectivity issues... it shouldn't be that complicated.

I came up with a solution that worked for me and my friend. We both opened all the necessary ports, turned off the router firewall and also our anti-virus programs. It was when we disabled the anti-virus that we could finally connect to each other.

Hey Fellas,

The only way I got it to work, as much as it annoyed me to do, was directly connect my ps3 right into the modem. It changed my NAT to "type 1" and supposedly allowed the necessary connections. I also ensured a proper power cycle of the modem as well. So for me, it looks like my router might have been the issue. It still doesn't make sense though, since all other games work just fine when I use the router.

Honestly. my friend and I had the same problem for a while. We did manage to fix this. Both of us are using Linksys routers. We went into 192.168.1.1 and logged in. under the applications and gaming tab we both turned on DMZ, set source to any ip, set the destination to the computer/console ip is set to. for pc go to your network and sharing center. Where you see view your active networks, on the right you will see connections. select that connection and when the new window pops up select details. The address you want to use as the destination IP address is the IPV4 Address listen in the details menu you just opened. Save settings. Like I said this is how my friend and I managed to get co-op to work for this game. Hopefully it works for you all as well.

Having the issue where I cant connect to my friend. We can both connect to ANYONE else out there.... but not eachother. I just spent $20 bucks on this game, so did my friend and we cant even play it with eachother. I seriously want a fix... anyone ? Please ?  

If not I want my money back.. >...> because lets face it. this is stupid

I think i found solution (FINALLY).
Had same problem with co-op. Joining failed. Turned firewalls, windows defender, and other stuff and nothing worked. I thought that i had the same problem in other ea games, like LOTR BFME2. Didin't saw my friend and stuff.

So. Generally problem is in internet connection/security. I had to forvard my 3659 port! NOT 3569CORRECT PORT IS 3659! When i had forvarded it on my router everything works just fine. I create the game (friend still didn't saw me in lobby) and then I have to invite my friend to game. As far everything seem to be just good.

Cross fingers for you ppl with same problem 🙂

Well, i had that problem too.. this helped me...

I went to my library, clicked on Dead Space 3.. than go to the game settings-game properties... and i switched off origin in game.. than i just started coop.. new game public.. and my friend just joined me.. i hope this can work for you too guys
