Re: Dead Space 3 Save game catastrophe.
It gets worse.
Yesterday I went all the way round supply depot D212. There was a module in there where you could choose to go and do what I think were optional missions. Anyway I left the module and went out side.
I thought do I go that way or the other way which was through a place where you have to have a snow-suit. I wasn't sure which way was the main mission route which I might not be able to return from. Anyway I had such a hard time in D212 getting around, and when I was outside there was an 'inventory save' notice. As I though there must have been a progress save recently I thought I should be fine to quit for a rest.
I was wrong. Today I have no key for the D212 block. That has gone from my inventory. The door is locked so I can't get back in. I don't even know if it has counted that I have done the long battle I had getting around that whole place yesterday. I have run round the whole area where the key-card was yesterday and it's not there. I have to resign myself to the fact I have lost that part of the game. I have lost probably 2-3 hours game time that I battled around that complex yesterday. Plus I can't go in to do the voluntary missions.
I even had to leave the game on and minimised while I went to eat. I was afraid I would loose too much progress if I quit.
This is without doubt the worst save system I have seen. It is cruel.
The really sad thing is I like the game so much. I have found myself with my eyes welling up at the dissapointment, even when it's going well. That's because I know it will sting me hard again.
