Great Tech review from Digital foundry, now you can see exactly what is wrong with the game. So much traversal stutter it's almost unreal.Text version as well: https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2023-dead-space-remake-the-pc-df-tech-review
Digital Foundry have confirmed everything we have been saying in this thread, now maybe something will be done about it.
I'm keeping this topic alive until there is a patch to fix this stutter problem.
- AlfaOneSeven2 years agoSeasoned Rookie@S1xthsense I dunno dude, I’m rapidly losing hope.

Right there with ya. As long as they have my money and I have a stuttery mess, I'm gonna be the squeaky wheel.

Honestly they have to be trolling, I refuse to believe people are that stupid. The Steam forums are the last place you should be looking for meaningful conversation.
- AlfaOneSeven2 years agoSeasoned Rookie@MrH999 I’d never underestimate the ignorance of people on Steam forums. Lol
- xCisli2 years agoRising Rookie@AlfaOneSeven they are too busy being triggered by the "woke" content that was even in the original game to actually play it and see that it stutters lol what would you expect from the steam forum bigots

Steam forums are great for a laugh and all. But once you're done with that laugh we're back to it being very much not funny that it's the weekend and the game is in exactly the same state.
PcgamingWiki is updated.
Issues unresolved
Traversal and streaming related stutters
The game suffers from frequent stutters when the player crosses invisible boundaries in the game, like opening a door or when walking around. This is likely caused by the game inefficiently loading in the next area, causing a large frame time spike, which is perceived as a stutter. The more powerful the PC is, the less frequent and intense these stutters become.
Shader compilation stutters in some rare cases
Shader compilation stutters can possibly trigger during gameplay after changing graphical settings. Additionally there are strong suspicions that the game's shader pre-compilation is not fully exhaustive in pre-compiling all shaders used by the game. This can lead to some rare shader compilation related stutters.
Inconsistent performance between runs
The same in-game scene can sometimes run with different performance between runs for unknown reasons. This happens even after changing no in-game settings and a full PC system reboot.
FSR leads to blurry animated UI
FSR doesn't properly take animations of UI-elements into account when upscaling the image, resulting in blurry and ghosting UI animations.
Issues fixed
Lower performance and random performance drops after changing graphical settings
Performance can go lower than expected after changing graphical settings in the in-game menu.
Workaround: restart the game
Shader pre-compilation does not trigger when reinstalling same GPU driver version
After reinstallation of same GPU driver version, the game's shader cache will be deleted as intended, but the game does not trigger shader pre-compilation at boot after this. Leading to huge shader compilation related stutters during gameplay.
Install a newer GPU driver version to re-trigger shader pre-compilation.
Lower resolution texture used when using FSR or DLSS
When using either upscaling technique the game provides, the game uses lower resolution textures than compared to when using Native + TAA anti-aliasing option. This is not because of the upscaling, but likely due to the wrong texture mipmap being used by the game while upscaling is enabled, which should normally be biased to the output resolution of the upscaling options. There is no fix available for AMD and Intel GPU users.- AlfaOneSeven2 years agoSeasoned Rookie
Just an FYI…
EA Motive’s “general inquiry” email is:
[edit: email address removed]
Perhaps if enough people contact them directly, we will finally get a response/fix?
>UPDATE< They removed the email, but if you google EA Motive it will take you directly to their website, their contact info in at the bottom.

Are you enjoying your weekend, EA? I would be enjoying mine but you still haven't fixed this stutter...
- MrH9992 years agoRising Adventurer
It's getting really ridiculous that we haven't even been updated on an ETA for a fix, hell even a simple "Sorry, we're working on it" would be fine. But silence? That is not cool. We paid our £50 to support you, now support us. If this issue isn't fixed soon I will never buy anything from this team again.
i feel dumb for trusting in EA again 🤨
Can you guys try this if you are playing on PC.
Have no idea if anyone already wrote this in comments.
First go to %LOCALAPPDATA% \Electronic Arts\Dead Space\settings.txt.
Find Motion blur and set it to 0.
- @MohawkTheOne this absolutely solves Nothing. and by the way you can disable motion blur in the game. Please watch Digital foundry video on Dead Space for PC That's everything you need to know. Don't post any nonsense if you don't understand PC tech to much. suppreciated Thank you.
It solved issue for a lot of people on Steam.
No I do not watch Digital Foundry so cant say nothing.
But thing is minority have problems with a game... check it on Steam.
Game is a benchmark for sure for mid/high rigs.
Edit If you stutter in Jedi Fallen Order, then I have no idea what to say.
Wait for patch. King regards.
- @MohawkTheOne for Jedi fallen order use DXVK Async to improve performance and reduce stutters. Because it's a dx11 game and you can change the API to vulkan. In de beginning the game will stutter like crazy but in DXVK you are compiling a real shader. It will not solve the problem but it's much much better. For Dead Space is a different Story you can't use DXVK because it's a dx12 game.
I get it but the thing is game reviews are very positive and I know some people still have a same problems.
Thats why I m always saying I hope game will be fixed with some future updates but trust me no need for spams and calling out EA, game really works without issue for Majority.
If you are sure that your rig is really high no worry go play something else untill next update. btw I m building rigs, I m not professional but still...
Again I really hope update will be released soon for people who still have a troubles.
It is not the same when you change your setting in folder and lock the file.
Settings in a game works a little diff sometimes.
Again. Hope its gonna be fixed for you all.
Looking at Steam database of Dead Space Remake. The developers are very busy.
https://steamdb.info/app/1693980/history/
So I hope at the end of this week will have a patch.
- AlfaOneSeven2 years agoSeasoned Rookie@S1xthsense I’m trying to give Motive the benefit of the doubt, they seem like they really love Dead Space as much as we do. They fixed the PS5 bug 3 days after launch, meaning someone worked all weekend to fix it.
On a side note I borrowed the game on PS5? Runs absolutely flawlessly, its traversal stutter there is no more noticeable than God of War or Ratchet and Clank. The problem on PC is that the stutters last for upwards of 100 MS, where console feels like 16-30 MS… - Xbob422 years agoNew Scout
Seeing all those database entries has me withholding my snark for now, if they're working hard to fix it, that's good. Wish they'd say something, but if it's them saying "we're working on it" or seeing that they're actually working on it, I'll take seeing every time. (Though both would be nice...)

Please don't come into tech threads when you're as tech savvy as my Grandma. Fallen Order stuttered on every platform, for everyone, and Dead Space has been proven to stutter on on PC, and to a lesser extent consoles. And Dead Space is not a workout for high end hardware, I can get up to 200fps, but no hardware currently available can brute force the stuttering. This issue is not affecting a minority, it affects everyone, some people are just ignorant to it.
- @MohawkTheOne can you see any traversal stutters in this video ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ4zfwRgHjgThe 60 cap is doing work too, reducing the length of the stutters. I play at 120 at it's much worse, you should try uncapping and see how much worse it feels. Personally for me 60 doesn't feel smooth when using KBM on my 165Hz display, so capping to 60 isn't really an option for me.
