Regarding Dead Space 3's difficulty levels

Howdy,

I accidentally deleted my save last night! Anyway, I completed around 51% on the hard difficulty level and I was wondering what would happen if I played through the first half of the game on the casual difficulty level and then switched back? I still have the trophies and what not from when I played on hard mode, right? Also, what happens to my overall achievement?
