Stuck in aim DS remake - PC

so i played with controller perfectly fine when i first installed the game, got to chapter 8 or so, saved the game and got off. the next day i boot the game back up and now the game refuses to work with controller anymore, and isaac is now stuck aiming his weapon. Caps lock isnt the problem. deleting the controller bind for aiming and shooting fixes the problem, but when you go to rebind anything that has to do with the controller, it completely soft-locks the game in the menu and wont let you out of the rebind, if i unplug the controller and plug it back in at any point, it crashes the game.

i dont wanna be forced to play with KB&M, does anyone know how to make this game function properly as it should and fix the controller problem?

This game is in desperate need of a patch
