Two Bugs: Ripper & Softlock (DSR)
First off, love the game, it's outstanding, 9.5/10 easily. Be wary of spoilers ahead.
Let's cut to the chase though: I've been playing through it, up to Chapter 10 so far. There have been two issues which have been experienced by myself and several other people I've seen on forums, discussing bugs. Disclaimer: I am running the game on an HDD, so I understand things may not load properly/quickly as a result of this. Regardless, fixes may be able to be made, and I think there should be some attempts; some people may even be experiencing these bugs on SSD, so who knows.
One, is at Chapter 5, where you hop off the tram at your return to Medical. For some reason, the game cuts the dialogue with Kendra short by just a tad, and ends up softlocking the game. This can be fixed by reverting to a previous save, and simply letting the dialogue play out again (that's what worked for me, and allowed me to progress again). Thankfully, the game should auto-save not even a minute before the tram ride over, so it's not hard to work around it. As to why this occurred, my guess is the game didn't load the cutscene/dialogue properly, and the scripting just locked the game into a never-ending cutscene state. Likely caused by use of an HDD, but still.
Two, is at Chapter 3, the Ripper just straight-up will not load in. As I said, I've played up to Chapter 10, and I've been backtracking a ton; I thought I was blind to have missed an entire weapon on my playthrough, but no, it turns out I'm likely just getting gaslighted by my HDD, lol. No matter how many times I've returned to its direct location at Engineering, next to the corpse with the Ripper blades stuck in the wall, it has never spawned in at any point in my playthrough. And, I assume I will not get to obtain it, until my next playthrough. A shame, but at least I'm not softlocked (plus, I was never a fan of the Ripper, anyhow. So I'm not too bummed out).
As I've said, other players have also been experiencing this, so it's plausible that this is not just limited to my use of an HDD, and thus still worth looking into.
Thanks for reading, hope the dev team knows how much this remake is appreciated. I still absolutely love and adore it, as the care and attention to detail put into it really does shine. It's quite possibly the best remake of a game ever made. Genuinely.
