[Xbox 360] Platinum Hits version not equal to regular version? (NTSC)

So I bought Dead Space 2 again because I lost disc 2 from my original (non-Platinum Hits) copy.

When my game arrived I noticed it was the Platinum Hits version, which I assumed would be the exact same disc content-wise as the regular version.

However I noticed that my Platinum Hits disc would still load data from the disc even though I had previously installed the (regular version) game to my HDD.

The biggest problem I ran into was that after booting the game with the Platinum Hits version disc 2, and trying to load a save that required disc 1, the game wouldn't recognize I had switched discs ONLY if I tried using the regular version disc 1.

So basically my Xbox is treating my regular version disc 1 and Platinum Hits version disc 1 as if they're two different discs. I'd very much like to know why. Are there additional content on the Platinum Hits version that I didn't notice? Is the Platinum Hits version an official EA release or did I purchase a bootleg?

Also, does this mean my regular disc 1 is now basically useless since it isn't compatible with my Platinum Hits version disc 2?

    I think that there are armors and/or weapons that are present in the platinum version that are not in the regular version of dead space. Back up your save games, delete the dead space 2 from your hard-drive and reinstall the game, that should solve your problem. Your old savegames should be compatible with your new dead space 2 platinum version.

    I haven't been able to find any content on the Platinum Hits version that weren't on the regular version thus far. Can you tell me where I can find these additional content?

    For one, there should be the zealot suit, which should be avaible for free in the dead space 2 game store.
