Bug: Can't return to camp after Sundermount graveyard

Hi,

I've just encountered a very annoying bug: After the cutscene with Flemeth at the graveyard, the trigger at the cave entrance seems broken, I'm walking towards an invisible wall but the menu that asks me if I want to leave doesn't pop up. Tried this a couple of times now and even followed every step in a walkthrough video, but I'm still stuck on the top of the mountain and unable to continue the game.

Is there an update that could fix this?

Thx!

Have you found a solution to this? The fact that such a horrible game killing bug doesn’t have a fix is driving me crazy!
  • Another player posted this in a (silghtly) different thread:

I just had the same issue when trying to complete a quest at Sundermount. Got onto EA chat and they had me make sure my Mac permissions are set to allow downloads from mac and other recognised developers, reset origin and reinstall it, and then go to disk utility (in utilities) and select the first aid option in there. It's fixed my game, hope it works for you, too, if you're still looking for an answer!

    Thanks, @Mollyjs!
  • Hmm. I've been having this same problem for a couple months now and honestly I'm more than a little frustrated. In the time since I first encountered the bug, I have:

    - reloaded to earlier saves
    - started over with a new character
    - used reset origin
    - uninstalled and reinstalled origin
    - uninstalled and reinstalled dragon age 2
    - run disk utility first aid
    - purged the RAM in terminal
    - deleted all my dragon age 2 saves after uninstalling and reinstalling again then starting over with a new character

... And probably some other stuff I can't even remember. Every time I try to return to camp from Sundermount the game freezes and I get the error mentioned in the other thread:

    "Exception Raised

Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000000c at address 0x7c49728a.

Do you wish to debug it?"

Selecting yes closes the game and selecting no leaves it frozen indefinitely until I force quit.

At this point I'm tempted to just give up.
  • Nostalgia pulled me back in to this game, but it is my first time playing it on Origin. Then I recently this problem.

So also tried everything: "Disk Repair", Origin "Reset", DA2 re-install, "Update", game "Repair", cache removal, and a new character.

NOTHING WORKED. I PAID FOR A GAME (INCLUDING ALL ITS DLCs) TO ONLY BE REWARDED WITH ABOUT 20% OF IT.

--> Can I please get 80% of my money back?

Well, I got hold of EA telephonically and they were not able to figure out the problem. The Advisor told me to report the bug here and they'll see if enough other people had the same problem...here's to hoping for the suffering of others!

By the way, did anyone actually figure out how to resolve this?

  • So, here we are 7 years later, when I returned to binge Dragon Age. And found once more invisible walls in Sundermount, and trying to Google a solution yielded naught. I once more ventured upon this thread and found it still lay unanswered.

But behold! A solution has been found!

I noticed that the issue occurs potentially in two places, either after the conversation with Flemeth in act 1, or after completing A New Path in act 3. I discovered my solution at the latter.

Firstly, enable the console. For help doing that, go here.

You won't be able to see what you're typing. Nonetheless, press the tilde key and type in "runscript zz_dae_debug". A conversation will appear with menu options.

Select Area Jump. The dialog that comes up will tell you what act you're in. Remember this and be sure to select the same act so you don't screw up story variables! Next, just select a map to teleport out to. Because I was doing this at the end of act 3 and wasn't worried about murdering an entire group of elves, I just ported to Darktown (Day) to do my next quest. For Act 1, however, you can port to any other map and then come back to do any dialogs you have left in the Dalish camp. I'm not sure if porting to the same map would take you to the area transition for Sundermount or do nothing. I didn't try it. But this works so long as you've finished your quests on the mountain.

I know this probably won't help anyone who was on this thread. I'm sure everyone has moved on nonetheless I'm posting this in the hope that it helps someone in the future. Enjoy!

I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Dragon Age: 2, please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.
