You said you're only experiencing this in EA Desktop, but this was a known issue on Origin as well, so that might be a coincidence.
I haven't really figured it out myself. Here are some possible causes:
- Applying the framerate fix to the game's launch options. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, disregard.) High values especially can mess with the game's logic.
- Pressing shift when running. I once accidentally tried to sprint by hitting shift (which is not a thing in this game), and that's when it started happening. It could have been a coincidence.
- Do you have a Logitech mouse? This post suggests that removing Logitech software from the launch applications fixes the problem. (Though my previous Logitech mouse didn't come with software and I also had the issue.)
When I previously had the bug, I don't know what fixed it, but it went away. I wish I could be more helpful.
@Fred_vdp Yeah, this is definitely an EA Desktop-exclusive issue for me, which is why I brought it up here. I've done some deep diving through Reddit and random forums and come up with nothing that applies in my situation.
1. I'm quite happy with my 30 FPS experience, so I never bothered with the framerate "fix." 😉
2. I keep double-tapping W to try and run faster, but that's not a thing in the game either! XD
3. I've got an HP Link-5 mouse, which could easily still have an odd input setting that only affects the game in EA desktop, but I'm very much against trying to troubleshoot a problem with one thing when my problem is demonstrably only extant when using one launcher and not the other.
I appreciate the feedback, however!
