DA: Inquisition - keybinding is reset after relaunch

Hi

This is more a two part question, but the one in the "subject -field" is the one bothering me a little more.

I have "jump" on mouse button 3, and "pause game" is space. After I restart the game, "jump" and "pause" is on space again.

Tried so far: I did start as administrator, I did save the "profileoptions" separetly, I have read/write access on that file and my user has also all rights on the operating system, which is Win 10 Pro Threshold 2.

Does someone have a brilliant idea, and can tell me what else I could try, or am I plain and simple incapable?

The other thingy is, that I do have DA: Origins (was on the house at one time) and I did get DA:Origins - Ultimate Edition not too long ago. Ever since I go the Ultimate Edition, after every 2nd start of Origin, DA: Origins - Awakening Ultimate Edition is Updating, but nothing really happens. I tried the "repair" Option on both links, but there is obviously nothing to repair and the game starts without troubles. Only this Update attempt pops up very now and then. I really would like to avoid a complete re-install, as the download speed kinda $u!$ and it would take at least 16 hours to do that.

greetz and thanx

  • okay, this topic can be considered as closed. I tried my Logitech mouse and I do not have that particular problem. Beats me, as I do not have any game related issues with my Razor mouse. I'll use this mouse for the time being and plug the Razor one in for FPS games.

And yes, it was only the #3 button. Assigning any other one was no problem, but as I wrote last time, I do use that button in practically every other game as "jump" - call me a creatur of habit...

Thanks again for all the tips, much appreciated.

  • Are you using some sort of gaming mouse with specific software? It's possible that could somehow contribute to your keybinding issues... maybe?

As for your Origins updating issue, have you thought of telling Origin to stop updating your games automatically? If there's an update, it will tell you (or there'll be an icon thing on the game in your library), but it won't go and download it without you telling it to. Might help. You can change that setting in Origin (menu) > Application Settings > General, under the Updates heading.

  • First of all, thanks for the fast answer.

I did turn off the auto-update and that issue is solved, somewhat, thanks for that.

The problem with the keybinding is persistent, though. I do have a gaming mouse, it's sharp like a razor, but the accompaning software is not running, as I did have some issues in my 3D-rendering software with that, too.

All other keydindings with the mous buttons 1,2,4,5 work fine, just the # 3 button is not happy with its asignment. I could try an older Logitech Performance MX and see if it is the same there, too.

Some might say now, "use on of the others", but I am used to that kind of setting throughout many games. If I cannont find a solution, then I will keep setting it to my preferences after every restart - only takes a few seconds.

I'm not too familiar with gaming mice, but have you tried, as an experiment, to assign jump to one of the other mouse buttons (and perhaps something else to the button you're having issues with)? Might help figure out if it's a problem with jump being assigned to the mouse, or if the game doesn't like that button in particular.

If you're still having issues with Origins, there's a board for that game over here, you might find more relevant information there.
