DAI Multiplayer - problems joining and hosting games

I took a several month break from dragon age and just started playing again yesterday. I had no connectivity issues before this break. I stopped playing some time between the release of the destruction and dragonslayer DLCs.

Currently, I am regularly getting the error "You have lost your connection to the session" when joining both public games through quick match, and private games with people I know. If I try to join a private game, when it fails I get the message "Downloading data please wait..." at the bottom of my screen and must alt+f4 to get out of it. When I host private games, people who try to join me get the above error messages. I can join maybe 1/5 games, and 1/5 people seem to be able to join my games.

Troubleshooting steps I have taken so far:

- Enabled and disabled upnp

- forwarded all ports http://help.ea.com/en/article/online-ports-for-dragon-age-inquisition/ in that list to my pc (both udp and tcp), and checked many of them with a port forwarding tool. The ports I forwarded were getting through, others were closed as expected.

- turned firewall off on my computer, and turned off intrusion prevention system on my router

- forwarded all ports http://help.ea.com/ca/article/connection-issues-with-origin/#1 in that list to my computer, repeated checks to make sure they were actually open

- restarted computer, router, modem

- tried joining and hosting with several people who were able to join games not hosted by me

- tried repairing, checking for updates

I'm not really sure what steps to take next, any help would be very much appreciated.
