DAO Ultimate Edition: Can't sync character, bioware site says "read-only", help?

I use playstation 3 platform for my dragon age. I've been scouring the internet for a way to get my dragon age origins character onto dragon age keep. I have a bioware account and dragon age keep account. They have the same email address and username. To my understanding, when I sign in while playing it should auto sync to my account. It has not. So I found this site that explained I have to register the game on bioware and then while I'm actively playing on my consol, go on the websit and on my profile, under games, it should have an option to click sync if it has not been synced. Well, that is not there. Instead, next to it says "read-only" and then has a forum option. When I click on the forum option, it gives me ways to contact EA. But when I click on those, I just go through windows and windows of self help stuff that doesn't apply to me and no way for me to contact them except by phone.

I pay minute by minute for my phone and I don't want to wait on hold and waste a bunch of minutes trying to get this thing to work. The other things I've read online have horror stories of long conversations leading no where and to me that just seems like a waste. I tried to find a way to email, but I can't find an email address to bring my issue to. So I am resorting to a post as my final hope.

I don't know what to do. I think I need to get the "read-only" thing to go away, but I'm not sure how to change that. Can anyone help? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  • @RoselynFox The ability to upload characters from the older games to the keep has been gone for several years now, and the Bioware forums have been gone for several months. Both of these things were announced at the time, but if you weren't a regular user it'd have been easy enough to miss.

As for the Keep, even if you could upload your characters from DAO or DA2, you would still have to fill in the tapestry as game progress/decisions was not included in the information uploaded to the Keep (basically it was your name, class, race, gender, picture. All editable in the Keep using one of the default characters). So I suggest just filling in the tapestry (as you would have had to do anyway) using the default DAO/DA2 characters (you can edit things such as their name and picture. There was a great Keep guide stickied in the DAI board, but it seems to have disappeared...).

Sorry you went through so much hassle for this answer. In future, if you need to contact EA, you can do so here, though the contact options vary depending on country.

Good luck, and let us know if you need any more help. 🙂

Thank you for taking time to answer my post. I'm happy to have an answer. I knew I'd have to fill out the tapestry, but I really wanted to see my characters name there, as childish as it sounds. I'm glad I can at least change the name and picture of the default though! Thanks again 🙂
