DA:O Ultimate Edition unable to save or load games

Hello,

I purchased my Ultimate Edition for Mac from Amazon in December 2013. About a month ago the game stopped recognizing all DLCs as well as any and all saved games and characters. It does not save any new games, either. The actual character files and saves are located in /Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Characters, as they were before the problem. Nothing has changed about them.

I have patched my version to 1.5 and have tried to follow all the instructions for troubleshooting the missing DLCs, but nothing has changed. I still get a blank screen for "Available Content" and am unable to select "Load Game" or "Other Campaigns."

The problem seems to be solved.

I had forgotten to erase some files in Library\Preferences while I reinstalled Dragon Age. I don't know if your OS  is also Lion (or Snow Lion) Misandragon, but apparently there are three diffrent \library, the two visible folders I checked did not contain the preferences concerning DAO. The last one is not visible but can be access by using the methods described on this site:

     http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-reveal-your-library-folder-in-lion-or-mountain-lion--mac-31972

I deleted the \cider preferences and the \dragon age origins preferences and everything seems to be back to normal. (I lost the saves I did in the meantime 'though) I am finally able to play the other campaigns and all.

It seems to be working fine for now, better than it did during the past week anyhow. Awakening, here I come !!

Are you using Cloud Saves? If they're turned on, does disabling them help?

    Thanks.

  • As far as I can tell, the cloud save function has never been on. At the very least, it isn't operating now, and my game still remembers nothing.

Just to check, have you tried a full reinstall? Make sure to back everything up first, of course.

    Hi,

I don't know if it is exactly the same issue but last thursday when I try to launch my game I was asked to give my authentification number. I did and once I reached the main menu I was unable to access my previous saves and  the other campaigns. Every command was back on default.  If I try to go on the download content page, it is blank and locked on installed content.

However, my characters folder remains untouched and so do the dlcs on DAmodWrangler. Unlike you I am still able to start new games and save.

I tried to create a new character to see if the characters folder would be updated. It appears that while I can load this new game, it does not appear in the folder. I tried to end the first hour to see if that changed anything but no luck.

Then I saved the data on a key and deleted and reinstalled everything. The game installer works, the awakening as well ('though it is nowhere to be found) but for the rest of the dlcs an "internal error " occurs. I can choose to install them anyway but need to confirm on the website. ( i did both without any real change)

When I launch the game, the patch v1.05 gets installed without and I can still load the character I created after the crash but not the others even if I add my previous character folder in its usual place.

I tried again creating new characters to check if they appear in the new dragon age folder but no luck.

I also tried to de-authorize the game before reinstalling, playing without the patch, manually patching the game but so far nothing has worked.

It seems I had redeemed my code online because the DLCs are on my online account. Trying to add them one by one by downloading them there does not work ("internal error" once again)

If you check the version number within windows, what does it show as?

The daorigins.exe should show at C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age\bin_ship. Check Properties>Details for the full version number.

Also, can I check your approximate location, it might be relevant if there's a mismatch in the versions Origin is distributing.

For my part, I am running the game with a mac so I did not acquire the game via Origin but on game tree mac. I tried to register the game with the Origin application when I reinstalled it  but as far as it is concerns the Ultimate version is only available for PC so I could not do anything. The DLCs are shown as installed on the platform nonetheless. But if checking my location is helpful in any way, please feel free to do so.

As far as I know, I do not have a bin_ship folder.  (I tried to look for it with the search engine anyhow but no match)

"Read information" shows : Dragon Age: Origins 1.05.13263.7581. I find the same number the same number in info.plist and version.plist inside the Dragon age file. I don't know if that helps. Is there another thing I should look for ?
