Demands of the Qun: half the conversation is missing

After I light the signal fire at the end of Demands of the Qun, the quest becomes seriously bugged: I hear my comments and Iron Bull's, but not the person we're talking to. I presume it's Gatt, but he vanishes from the scene, and I get several shots of vague grey rain; I'm not sure whether that's the background where he ought to be standing, or whether other things are missing, too -- entirely possible, since the grass tends to flicker in and out when the camera shifts to show my Inquisitor and Iron Bull.

Running on a PC; let me know if you need other system stats. If there's a way to resolve the bug, let me know (I tried re-running the quest, with no success). I'm able to finish it out, but it loses a lot of its impact with half the conversation missing, and right now I can't do any of the things I want to at the Storm Coast, because I can't go there without it triggering this quest.

    I'm having the same issue.

I had to flee when I initially took on the last group of Vints because I didn't expect the mage to be level 16, so half my group went down. Is it possible that Gatt went down in the fight and just didn't reappear? If so, is there a console command that can "resurrect" him and fix the bug?

I've done the quest before, so I get the gist of Gatt's side of the conversation, but its still sort of frustrating. I tried running back to the start of the quest, down by the tents, tried reloading my last save, restarting my computer, still nothing. I'm told that a few have tried reinstalling the game to fix it with no success, but it's not worth the trouble for me to try it.

  • I suspect that he, somehow, how is unclear to me, fell through the floor, since i see stones from the inside from time to time when he is supposed to be talking. My solution: i just force-crashed inquisition via my good old task manager and will restart the mission soon (after completing some operaitons though. I was foolish enough not to check the wiki first for missions that become unavailable after this).

EDIT: Found a solution. Problem is, he died. Solution is to bring a mage capable of resurrecting him to the mission. Then just, well, resurrect him. This will probably help anyone except me, since he, as i mentioned above, fell through the floor. I'll try to resurrect different empty parts of the area now, wish me luck.

  • I just saw Gatts unconscious body “vanish” when Bull activated “Ring of Pain” near him. Could this all be due to the “Fervor” passive skill? Does it absorbs and despawn enemy corpses to strengthen bull? Gatts included?
