DirectX error/crash on launch.

I get this error when attempting to launch the game from the Origins Launcher:

"DirectX function "CreatePixelShader for DX10Plus/SMAAEdgeDetection_prediction=1" failed with E_OUTOFMEMORY ("Direct3D could not allocate sufficient memory to complete the call."). GPU: "NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260M", Driver: 8.17.0012.5738 6/28/2010 10:51:00. Free virtual memory: 4293786384kB / 4294967168kB. Total resource memory: 0kB. Make sure you have a supported graphics card with at least 512 MB. "

I have an Alienware M17x, Nvidia Geforce 260m. I have the latest drivers from Dell for the card, which are the only ones that actually install. I've tried downloading the latest drivers for the 260m, and it says I already have the latest drivers installed, and the 344.75 drivers which are "Game Ready" for dragon age, and they aren't compatible.  I have DirectX 11.1.

Help?

I couldn't find that post again.  Also, that 'answer' is great and all, but sometimes people can find a work around before EA and Nvidia can patch it.

Same here, I've also tried to downgrade my GPU from 344.75 to 344.11, and all i have to say is DON'T DO THIS, since this my PC won't show me anything, I can't use my PC at all, thank you so much EA...

EDIT : The game is out since 11/20 and still no solution with Nvidia! Seriously, it's so disgusting, and with you're **bleep** Origin thing, I can't even be refund!!

  • I can finally play ! I'm waiting for the patch, because it's not fluid, but it's nearly acceptable (and no it's not my PC, it's exactly the same on low and on ultra). I don't really know what was the problem, I tried to close everything, every Chrome process from the task manager, close Skype, and I can play. Try to use MSI Afterburner too to lock your Clock GPU at his factory frequency. Ah, and keep your AO off.

There's still a need of patch, even with this solution it rams, but I can play...

What did you change that you were able to play, slow as it is?

I have installed MSI Afterburner, and put -139 on my Core Clock (because I have a Gygabite GTX 970, so it's factory OC, and I have slowed it down to his original frequency). Then I have closed every Google Chrome Process in the Task Manager (if you use Firefox or IE, do the same for these navigators). I have closed Skype, and I turned Origin in offline mode.

I've read there's something with the navigator you're using, and visibly it might be this.

PS : sorry for my english, i'm french
