Dragon Age 2 save files gone?

I have a problem similar to the one described in this thread. When I loaded Dragon Age 2 not ten, fifteen minutes after exiting it, it refused to allow me to Load or Resume my game. I checked my file (Dragon Age 2 > Characters) and found all my characters remained in tact, as did their multiple saves and autosaves. I followed the instructions in the above-linked post, but it didn't work. Whenever I synced with the Cloud, the Character files reappeared. Perhaps it is because I am using a Mac as opposed to a PC? I don't know, but all help is appreciated.

  • I just created a new save, hoping that a new character would cause the game to remember the others, but no such luck. The game also doesn't recognize my Dragon Age: Origins saves, even logged in, so I can't import my DAO file. It acknowledges the new character's save file even if I exit Origin and reopen it, but it doesn't see my previous saves. For whatever reason, though, my new character's file doesn't appear with the others.

I'm going to uninstall DA2 and then reinstall it and see if that helps any.

  • Nope. Uninstalling and then reinstalling did not solve the problem, though I can still clearly see the save files in the actual folder. The game still doesn't recognize them. I have no clue what's going on.

I'm having this exact problem, I've talked to EA support twice now to no avail. I've tried manually uninstalling origin and cleanbooting the system as well.

Hey man, I just solved this by removing my most recent save and autosave from the character folder. It looks like if theres a single corrupted save it doesn't let you load any of the saves from that character, in my case it was the autosave. Hope it works for you too.

  • I'm glad you found a solution! Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. I had 2 characters on DA2 and deleted their files one by one (I have backup files saved in another location) to try and see which file was corrupt, and even tried multiple files at once (all of one character's or all of another's), but I didn't have any success.

  • I backed up the save files and created a new character saved and closed the game. When I checked the saves in my documents I could only see the new one so I moved a copy of the old ones from the back up and now I can load them =)
