Thanks, but that seems like a lot of hoops to jump through. It must have taken a long time to figure that out.

It -is- a lot of steps, more than any paying customer should have to go through.
Took me 8 hours of searching the internet, trying all the "solutions", then playing a hunch since games like DAI and ME3 will go directly to MP lobby if you join from friend's list
But to re-clarify
Start DAI then immediately switch to some other window (I call it off-screen Launching)
First run Join a friend's MP (wait for it) so you can get in game long enough to switch off of Fullscreen in the display settings
From then on Do an "off-screen launch" and wait for the "Click to continue" marching screen before you Alt-Tab or taskbar-select DAI so you can avoid the auto-screen-shift

I have duel core i3 and have clocked 13 hours of playtime on this game with no lag no errors no bumps or squeek's, it loads fast every time i haven't had a single issue and all of a sudden i get a black screen that it just cant get past? now surely it cant be due to having a duel core sine i've alrdy clocked 13 hours of playtime with no problems, now if it wouldn't work on a duel core why did it work on mine no problem? i doubt my machine has all of a sudden gone 'hold on i've not ment to be able to run this game oops' and just stopped, so this this whole duel core wont play the game is bull*, especially since there is people with quad core having the same problem, so whats your smart * answer now ?

duel core machines can run this game, i have an i3 and it did run this game for 13 hours of playtime until the black screen * happened, how do you explain that? minimum requirements for shadow of mordor is a quad core and i've completed that game with 40 hours of playtime, you have no clue!
For anyone having trouble with starting DAI.
First step- updating your Origin client..to the latest Beta version /top left Origin menu, Application Settings - General and restart Origin.
The second and most important step- cheked in Origin/Application Settings/Origin In Game Logging and check Enable Origin In Game logging(Not recommended) and start the game
Opening time the game will be higher..be patient and the game will start and go well.
VERY IMPORTANT.This setting will have to do it every time, when open Origin because is lost every time you switch the Origin.
Solved your question ? ...please hit Accept As Solution on the post they did so others know it worked or have the curtsy to say " Thanks, but it didn't work "
Hi Guys
After a long time of stressing the hell out of this game not launching, even after installing all installer files like Directx and VCredist files nothing worked.
All what happened was the game open up a windows with black then the game crashes with no error message. I almost got a refund. But well let's cut to the chase. To fix follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Install all Installer Files (dx and vcredist) from game folder. Normally found in programfiles x86 then origin games then in dragon age folder then in installer folder.
Step 2: Download these files from this link JUST Copy This Address and paste in URL box ontop
Step 3: Extract the Files to a folder.
Step 4: enter the update folder. then the update folder in that update folder then copy that patch folder.
Step 5: Paste the Patch folder in your DA:I directory in the update folder and overwrite.
This should work. Notice the first start of the game while online will work 100% but over a time will ask for an update. Download it. The game might give the same startup crash. Just follow from step 5 again. (back up the patch folder after update) so when u repeat step 5 the next time it updates u copy backup update again.
I hope this helps. Goodluck

Ok so I just talked in the chat thing with EA costumer service and solved it on my computer and now it connects! It's apparently a problem with using Internet Explorer because the game runs through that or something. If you follow this link and follow the instructions and then reset your computer, it should work!

Don't worry it won't make Internet Explorer your default and it won't really change anything unless you use Internet Explorer.

It's a shame that this A+ game gives us gamers so much trouble. But this is what worked for me. I opened the NVIDIA control panel and went to 3d settings. There I opened "program settings" and added the game to the list. Where it says "select the preffered graphics processor fot this program" I set it to "Integrated graphics". Now the game will launch and finally I can play some DA I. Hope this works for you guys!
