dragon age inquisition freezing completely while playing

This was exactly my issue that forced me to wait for starting to play.

I just played the prologue and then it happened to me 3 times in 2 hours.

I think it's a failure of the graphic card, im not sure because the patch + hotfix and the new drivers resolved the problem for me, and they were released the same day (i have an AMD card)

Been playing the game for a few weeks now. A few days ago i started having theese freezes aswell.

Perhaps a buggy patch since it played flawlessy for weeks before.

and second i read another person having this problem but with an AMD card and he fixed it by updating his graphic drivers and i did it too and updated my gpu driver to the last one still freezeing but i'll try the hotfix i wish it works cause this game is awsome and I cant keep playing like this.

And I wanted to ask that which drivers did you update and did you jsut use the hotfix or you used all the updates and patches? THX AGAIN:manwink:

For me at first it was fine but after a while this freezing started i just hope its a software problem and i hope I can find a solution I really DO hope so this hotfix solve my problem.You cant imagine how long and how much effort i put for this issue and getting no solution to it really disappoints me.If you get any update i would love to hear it, THX for the reply.

Guys the Hotfix didnt work, and recently it freezes so fast it doesn't last to 5 minutes plz If there is anyone who has solution plz help me

Sounds exactly like what was happening to me until today when i installed the new nvidia patch, i was actually coming to check if anyone felt an improvement as well ( MASSIVE for me btw first time i actually play this game 6h nonstop) .

So we have the same patch, almost the same computer...

Do you play in windowed fullscrenn and have (see below)

Ambient occlusion: off

Post process: Low

Post process antialiasing: low

Beside that i downgraded evrything 1 rank from my auto setting (all that was ultra to high and so on..)

Other steps i took were reinstalling directx, downloaded vcredist sp4, and i still have that line " -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+ " entered in the game properties...

But weirdly like i said its just since i have that new patch that things work fine, i havent tried setting the game to auto-settings yet, scared, lol and the game i still very good looking.

Hey Guys it seems I found a solution but I don't know the exact numbers to fix it. The possible fix is underclocking!!!!

I have gtx 560 ti with these stock clock settings: Core clock: 822   Shader clock: 1645     Memory clock: 2004     Core voltage: 1012 and fan speed on auto

I overclocked my gpu and it froze worse than before. the freezing happened sooner and there was a strange, crazy sound repeating of the last seen of the game. After some research i found out that underclocking may fix my issue so i underclocked my gpu a bit and finally I could play for 4-5 hours non-stop, BUT its froze again after 5 hours. So I udnerstand now that the freezing is connected to the clock settings and it should be underclocked but I don't know much about under/overclocking, so the only solution is finding the best numbers of the clocks so the freezing stop.So if there is anyone who knows about clocking plz help me.

It sounds as though it is a heat issue with the video card.  Under-clocking and increasing the fan should decrease the load on the video card and keep the temperatures down.  

You may want to enable VSync so that the system does not work any harder than needed; if you are getting over 60 FPS.  If not, just leave it unchecked as it may cause some lag on the display.
