DRAGON AGE INQUISITION SLOWS RIGHT DOWN and WON'T PERFORM

I am 118 hours into DRAGON AGE:  INQUISITION.  Suddenly, the game stopped performing, as it slowed right down to like a very very slow motion. I reloaded the game at an earlier save date, and it worked again.  But then the problem came back, as soon as I traveled from one location (Skyhold) to another (Hinterlands).   It then worked again, but now it takes SEVERAL minutes for the game to load, be it from the start, or between traveling.  I will check the game repair option.  My video driver is up to date.  I clear my cache daily, and have just the basics working in the background of my system...Windows 8.1, 8 Gig Ram, 3.8 Ghtz speed, 64 bit.

Thank you anyone who can assist me.  This happened once before, so I don't think that it is an overheating problem.  I can play Witcher 2 with ease, and Skyrim, so it has to be the game itself, and not a problem at my end.

  • I finally got my game to work.  I removed AVAST Safe Zone Web Browser from my computer, and now my game runs great...Thank you for your input

  • A dxdiag report would rule out several possibilities. Without more details the number of possible causes would be too many to name. Please follow the instructions in the guide Gorath linked.

Neither game runs on the Frostbite 3 engine and both are from a past generation and are easier to run that Dragon Age Inquisition. Skyrim especially is not a demanding game and could run smoothly even on low budget builds. Witcher 2 is a good looking game but also runs a lot smoother than DAI.

  • Well then I apologize...I am not a computer expert.  What else do you require that I haven't already provided?  My game is still unresponsive at times, meaning that such slows right down.  The worst of it right now is the time it takes to travel from one jurisdiction to another....about 5 minutes or more.  Although I can move around, it stalls now and then.  All combat sucks though, where during such gameplay will freeze several times.  I just don't get it.  Your obvious expertise would greatly be appreciated...
