I purchased and downloaded Dragon Age Inquisition yesterday and opened it when it finished downloading. I wanted to use my xbox controller rather than keyboard and mouse so I went into settings and changed the control option to gamepad. For some reason it wasn't reading my controller so I closed the game and reopened it. For some reason now when I get to the screen that says "Press START" I am unable to continue despite pressing enter on my keyboard and start on my controller. The game is on the game pad control setting but for some reason it doesn't recgonize my controller despite it working for other games. I decided I should just try to use my keyboard and mouse so I uninstalled the game and redownloaded it. For some odd reason the game is still on the game pad control option and I can not get past the opening screen to play or change settings. How can I switch the controls back to keyboard and mouse without going into the in game settings?

Look for the game's save folder in your My Documents folder. Open the file XY:\My documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save\ProfileOptions_profile with notepad++ and strg+f for "gamepad" change gamepad=1 to gamepad=0. Save the file. Should be working. That's how I've done it. Now if ANYONE could tell me, why I am not allowed to use a PS2 controller to play this game like I do with every other game I have ever owned, that would be nice.

Had this problem too, fixed it by going into the game details in Origin, then under "Actions" into "Game Properties" and ticking the "Disable Origin in Game for this game" box.Hope this works for you guys as well.

All everyone is doing is giving replies to get back to mouse and keyboard. Is there any information yet to get controller working properly??

360 controller working fine before the patch. Now having the same issue and couldn't play the game cause the PC controls are just unbearable for me.

Same issue. After that last patch my Dragon Age II Razer Controller no longer functions.Any ETA on fixing it back?Is anyone at EA reading these messages?Please let us know if you are able.Thanks,B

I am having the same problem. Just got the game yesterday. Changed setting to gamepad now, I am stuck and Can't do anything.

I was able to get it back to working with mouse and keyboard using the information provided here. But Controller support still not working? Can anyone from EA please jump in and help please!?

Some PC gamers are using the Xbox controllers successfully, ONE of those at a time . . as noted also, the officially supported controller is the one from the Xbox360.

@rgregg3773 If you have a gamepad plugged in and it's not responding, it's likely that you're using a gaming keyboard or some other peripheral that is being mistaken for your gamepad. Also be sure to plug in your pad before initialising the game.

Check your Device Manager for visible game controllers, and set your pad as default if it isn't already the default.

Note also that the 360 pad is the officially supported one, though Xbox One pads also works.

Xbox One controller was working fine until the patch. After 140 hours, the game is now unplayable.
