Dragon Age Origins : Ultimate Edition persistent, predictable crashing.

I recently purhcased the aforementioned game from Steam.

I installed the game and continued to play for a small amount of time.

I reached some mission where I was required to light some beacon to signal troops attacking,(Note - I believe this may not be completely relevant to the crashing issue, but is worth mention.)

When i encounter the first wave of baddies, I usually cross the threshold, (some sort of gate) and about a second or 2 after combat initiates the game crashes.

The crash is listed under APPCRASH

I run a duo core processor, and have tried many, (perhaps all) solutions listed by community and staff. Setting affinity to single core, not working, minimizing settings and closing memory-heavy applications, running in compatability mode, all futile in my effort to fix the game.

I would really love some sort of fix for this issue, not just some refund handed out to allay my quarrels.

With Respect.

    Hello,

Under APPCRASH you should see somewhere a line "Fault Module Name: xxx.dll".

Please check the name of the module reported there.

If it is something like "nvd3dum.dll" then I would recommend to desinstall and reinstall your graphic card's drivers (you can find the most up to date version directly from Nvidia official website).

Let us know if that helps of if you need further assistance.

We will be happy to help.

    In the crash error report,

    Fault Module Name:    DAOrigins.exe

I have reinstalled my drivers, and the game completely, to no avail.

There is no "support team" here at Answers HQ.  If you have opened an official tech support ticket at the EA Help Center, we in here have no direct connection to there.  This forum is basically User to User, with some assistance from a couple of EA people who work as paid moderators, not as official tech reps.  Those are called "Game Asvisers", and links to the help Center do appear on most pages in here.

    Hi there,

As explained by Gorath, Answer HQ is a Community orientated platform. Moderators such as myself are trying to help whenever possible, but to get help from tech support teams, you will need to contact an EA Game advisor.

    To do so:

    • Go to https://help.ea.com/
    • Log in with your Origin account.
    • Click on "Contact us"
    • On the next page select the game you wish help with and click on Go.
    • Chose the appropriate options in the drop down menu for "Product", "Category", and "Platform".

Do not hesitate to chek the BSN as well. Tech forums are now read-only but they contain useful information. Please check this thread for example.

    Hope that helps,

    Eve
