Error syncing cloud storage data

So when I try to run the game I get a message saying my saved games are out of sync.. which is fine.. however, then i try to sync using cloud data, I get an error saying

"Error syncing cloud storage data

Your latest cloud storage data may not be available".

My latest save is on the cloud and I am unable to recover it.. is there a fix for this? I researched but can not find any information.. I also did a fresh install of the game and same error happens.. I have all my saved files in the cloud and any help would be greately appreciated.. I don't want to lose all the hours of gameplay..

Thank you

  • @Kerad2 I believe this may be an issue with Origin, not the game (as it happens to me on occassion recently with ME3, trying to start the game a few times usually gets it to behave for me, though my most recent saves are local, so it's less of an issue for me). If restarting Origin doesn't help, you could try reinstalling it altogether (much less downloading than reinstalling the entire game)- you can download the latest version of Origin here. Uninstalling/reinstalling Origin won't hurt your games at all, don't worry 😉 It also should have no affect on your cloud saves.

If none of that helps, let us know, someone else may have more useful suggestions. 🙂

  • I have tried to uninstall the client and reinstall it using the link provided..I still get the same error.. basically it reaches 99% sync before it errors out each time..

@Kerad2 Ah, that sounds different than what I've been experiencing, so I may have been wrong.

What version of Windows are you using? Have you changed anything recently (updated drivers, upgraded your OS, anything like that?). If you're using Windows 10, are you running the game in compatibility mode? Running it (and Origin) as an administrator? Have you checked the permissions on your save folder? If Origin/the game doesn't have permission to write to it, that could be responsible for some weirdness.

Also wondering what happened to your local saves (usually the game saves both locally and to the cloud, the cloud is useful as a backup or if you play on more than one computer). It's a good idea to back these up every now and then, to save accidental losses due to bad cloud syncs (it happens) or whatever.

Hopefully something in there proves useful. If not, let us know, will try to think of something else 😉

  • So I have tried pretty much everything I can think of here.. reinstalling the game, reinstalling the client.. all permissions are set to full control.. I removed all saved games and tried syncing from the cloud to a fresh directory.. nothing works.. keeps getting same message.. I am running windows 10.. I haven't played the game since probably mid 2015... I tend to play games for a bit and then come back to them after a break if i get busy with work.. never had an issue before.. over the time lots of drivers have been updated so can't comment if it's something I did recently.. game starts and plays, just sync from cloud won't copy the data over.. almost feel like something is wrong on the origin end.. sigh..

@Kerad2 Cloud syncing is an Origin thing, I don't think it's likely to be an issue with the game itself. It's possible your cloud saves are corrupted or something, perhaps you could try contacting support, they might be able to take a look. You can contact support here. (Be sure to set your country using the menu in the upper left corner. If your country isn't listed, it's suggested you use the US or UK. Some contact options are only available during certain times on certain days, if you have to use a different country, be sure to account for the time difference. If you opt for live chat, be aware the estimated wait time tends to be incorrect until it gets under 4 or 5 minutes, and if you're left waiting for an unreasonable amount of time try a different browser).

Or someone else could possibly come along with a helpful suggestion. 😛

@Kerad2 Ouch, it does sound like the saves themselves may be corrupted. In some rare cases clearing the Origin cache might help, you can find the steps to do so here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/origin-my-games-list-is-blank/

Past this unfortunately the saves might be lost. Would you have the saves on any other machines? Even if you uninstalled the game they should persist unless explicitly removed, perhaps they can be recovered?

  • I recently got a new computer and I downloaded origin on it. Every time I try to play Dragon Age: Inquisition is says "error syncing cloud storage data" I've seen on a couple other questions like these on here saying that I should just use my local data but there is no local data on this new computer. What do I do??? If there's not a fix that is completely ridiculous and unacceptable.

I agree, this is really unacceptable. Really do not feel like starting all over again.

I do not have this issue with DAI however I do have it with Mass Effect Andromeda.

Its a good thing this dosent happen with DAI as I have invested many hours and halfway through the game !

Have you managed to find a fix yet ? I havent played MEA in 2 weeks because of this issue.

I HATE CLOUD STORAGE...my personal opinion is to disable cloud and simply back up saves to either a backup folder on your pc or back them up to a USB stick and label them.  I have had way more issues with cloud than it ever saved me from other issues...
