Fort Drakon Crashing

Question

Currently in the process of reinstalling DA:O, but hoping to get some insight into this in the case I still encounter the problem. The game keeps crashing as I make my way out of the Royal Palace into Fort Drakon, specifically during the map transition screen when you see the red splats as you make your way to the destination. I had uninstalled all the mods but that did not seem to address the issue. Any other advice after reinstalling the game?

*Update: Fortunately reinstalling corrected the problem.

Answer

The first time I had crashes in DAO was in the circle of mages.

After a long fruitless search, I tried turning of full screen mode.

I never experienced a crash in windowed mode 😉, but full screen is way more enjoyable of course.

This is however a very simple workaround that I used in the circle of mages and in fort drakon. There was a third area where I needed this but I can't remember which one. After the critical areas I switched back to full screen mode (until the next crash).

Switching from full screen mode to windowed mode:

Game menu: Video settings: Remove check or

DAconfig.exe: Video settings: Remove check (also accessible via autorun under configuration
