Hold Position command

This is a REALLY annoying problem.

seems an easy fix WTF

mine seem smore **bleep** up than described. even when i turn AI off or specifically tell characters to do nothing they seem to default to following controlled character.. real stupid **bleep**.. tacttical mode is a **bleep** joke.

This is still a issue, anyone have any ideas on how to make it a bit easier? I'm in a mission where it requires my party to be spread out, and nobody wants to stay put. It's very frustrating.

Switching to the companion and telling them to Hold works more often than doing it the other way but it's still not 100% reliable. 

It certainly doesn't work like Dragon Age: Origins, which was great for tactical positioning, so I consider Hold Position BROKEN.

If it's intended behavior, then what exactly is the point of a tactical camera if you cripple tactical positioning? Range equipped characters run up to melee range and take damage/die.

These kind of game problems are not always reported by reviewers either.

And it's almost pointless to report problems to EA because they don't get fixed.

In previous threads it has been suggested that setting each character to follow themselves (e. g. Cassandra to follow Cassandra) makes the hold position instruction more reliable. I have found this useful, and also using the tactical view and individually setting character positions (left double click on PC, can't help with consoles) is fairly reliable. If the controlled character moves too far away then followers are likely to close up, so fighters using Bulls Charge (? not sure of exact name) are likely to break the "hold position" effect. Fade step doesn't seem to go so far, so is less of a problem.

The last DAI patch was released in Oct. 2015.  Nothing has been changed since that day, and by all reports nothing will ever be changed as all patching and updates stopped at that point. 

So anything that was still broken at that point, is something to be lived with and or modded if available on PC.  Sorry, if this isn't what you like, and I personally would have loved another years worth of patches, but that isn't how most game cycles go now.  I can only think of a few non-mmo/service style games that have had a longer patch period than about a year from release. 

So if you see a bug, come here and see if you can find a work around, or maybe go to a mod site and see if you can find a mod, otherwise....you just kinda have to deal with it.  Sorry, if this isn't what you want to hear.....

Oh no, I realise that the patches for this game stopped coming out a while ago, I'm just annoyed and disappointed that it's a mechanic that was never fixed. Especially since some of the puzzles in the game requires that "hold Position" functions in order to properly solve them.
