Solved

I can't import my characters to Awakening.

I've purchased and installed Origins, Awakening and several other DLCs (and registered them, if that makes any difference), but today when I was going to run Awakening it refused to work regardless of reinstallation, proposing that it missed a module which it didn't. So, since I wanted to continue on my newest playthrough in Awakening, I reinstalled Origins and Awakening both, to make sure they ended up right. All installed, I was about to start playing and my newest playthrough was naturally lost. To avoid having to play Origins again with the same character thoroughly, I want to know if there is any way of importing your characters to the game: and since they're registered online there should be a way, right? Very thankful for help.

  • The (only) location where DAA will look is the one where the game is configured to put saves.

    The default is:  "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters"

Are you saying that you don't see this?

DAA Character Create - Import Screen

That you only have the "Create New Character", and "Exit to Main Menu" options?

  • a)  The "synopsis" of your character(s) on-line under your EA/BioWare profile does not contain anything the game can use.  It's like a written description of a picture.  It may be interesting to read, but it's not a copy and is no help at all in showing someone what the original picture looked like.

    b)  Even a full un-/reinstall won't touch your game saves and characters (unless you explictily removed them.)

    c)  So you should be able to start a new Awakening Campaign and then use any of your DAO characters.

    From the Main Menu:
         -- Other Campaigns

         -- Awakening

         -- Play

         -- Import from another module

         -- Advanced

-- Select the specfic save you want to use

(Oh, what platform are you on?)

Thanks for the answer, and you're of course right about the online registration thing.
I play on PC and the odd thing is, actually, that I did find the folder called "Characters" with all my characters' saves in it: but it still doesn't work. There is no import option when I start a new game in Awakening following your steps, the only option is to create a new character. Is there some special place I should move the "Characters" folder to or something like that? It was in the folder from last time I installed the game, not the new folder, just to be clear.

Turned out the Bioware folder was in the wrong place (probably my own fault, I've probably happened to move it) so I moved it back to the default you typed and now it's working. Thanks so much for the help 🙂
