A $700 mid-range self-built PC would destroy most consoles, with room to improve over time, to boot. Buying prebuilt in that range will usually get you a really bad power supply and bad integrated graphics - however, Newegg has occasional bargains for prebuilts that actually have decent specs, though, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883220798R. Quad core i5 3.5 ghz CPU, GTX 760 discrete GPU, 500w power supply, 8GB memory, 1 TB 7200 RPM storage, and an ASUS (a reliable brand) all for $640. That's pretty much what you would pay to build a gaming PC of similar power, and it will handle Inquisition and most other games that didn't come out yesterday on max settings, no problem. Open-box deals like that don't last long, but they always come around again, so if you don't get that one, keep an eye out for another like it. Do not settle for some overpriced Cyberpower or Alienware with half-baked components at ridiculous prices, or a cheapo Dell or HP that charges you for 3TB of storage with horrible integrated graphics.
