Insurmountable Crash Bug in "Final Piece"

I reach the Altar of Mythal, and as soon as I get near the steps of the altar itself (to "approach the altar"), the game quickly and unceremoniously crashes to desktop. No warning message, no popup, ...

    I found the solution: it was a problem with the MoreLoot mod. Once I disabled it, the problem was fixed. Thanks to those who tried to help! 🙂

This has not worked for me...still crashing at exactly the same spot.
