[Keep] Cannot Delete Old Heroes From Dragon Age Origins

Hello,

I have recently encountered an issue withing Dragon Age Keep whereas I cannot delete old Hero entries made in Dragon Age Origins.

For some background: the characters were created somewhere around 2015-2017 (yep, so a bit old) and I have since uninstalled and reinstalled DAO a few times, most recently 1 month ago, when I did a playthrough of a new character. The achievements and Word State info were not saved in Keep for this character (for achievements, no, I did not use cheats :D) ) so I had to manually modify some Tapestry info to match my playthrough choices (I am doing a series playthrough, so I wanted to see if the choices actually reflect throughout the titles - currently paying Inquisition). That's when I noticed that 4 characters that I created when I first got this game are still showing up there, but when trying to delete them I get error: Oops, an error occurred..

Is there some way that EA can delete them from my Keep account (and just keep the DAO character that I have right now in my active word state)?

Also, the heroes that I want to delete from the DAO slot show as having 0 word state (Features in 0 word states) - I have tried to manually add them into another word state, in hopes that something will sync and I will be able to delete the hero, but no success...

Is there a way that this can be fixed or am I stuck with 4 inactive Heroes for DAO in Dragon Age Keep?

Thank you.

  • @SebyX16 That is unfortunate. I eas hoping one of these ways would work. So they won't actually go in and delete them; they will get the site itself updated and test it on their end. That typically resolves issues for players to be able to make changes.

The good thing is you don't need to delete them to do what you want. Bad news, you just have to go through it the long way. This is what I do.

    I sync the account
Replay your options in the Keep
Go through everything as if it was brand new
Make all the choices (I know there are so many)
Create the world state I want.
Rename that world state to, let's say, today's date.
Import that state and lock it!
If you play DAI, go into the game and import again. It will use the one you locked in.

If you play from DAO on, you would have to essentially repeat the steps once you get into DAI that way you know which world state it is you are using. You can also edit the heroes names to not loose track of which hero did what.

@SebyX16 Hey, sorry to hear about this one. That error is super annoying and I actually had a meeting this morning where I brought it up. They are looking into the keep again but honestly not sure when that will be resolved.

With this error though, we cannot manually delete them no. We cannot log in as you and do it, so it has to be done on your end.

    Have you tried the following?

    • Refresh the Page: Sometimes, simply refreshing the page can resolve the issue.

    • Clear Browser Cache: Clearing your browser's cache and cookies might help.

    • Try a Different Browser: Sometimes, using a different browser can resolve the issue.

Also, if you log in and replay the whole thing from the beginning in the keep, and it syncs, that helps, too. I've had that resolve a few issues. I logged in and was able to delete one, so it's definitely a sync issue vs a site issue. I will toss it to the team, though, anyway, since we discussed it. let us know, though, if any of it works.

    Hi there,

Unfortunately, the steps did not work.. tried numerous times refreshing and also clearing the browsing data in Edge, Chrome and Opera and the same happens. I also tried logging in through a private tab in all browsers, but again, same issue appeared...

I also replayed the world state twice and when trying to delete the old characters I created in origins, the same error pops up.

Thank you for replying and if there's something else I could try, please let me know.

@SebyX16 It may be a site issue. I got error 500 on one account but was able to log in on another and delete a hero. Can you go into the heroes, edit the one you want to delete, and save it so it refreshes? Then log out, and clear all browser cache and browser history. Reopen the browser and try again.

It's a cached issue, so if you cannot delete it on your end, the team has to do it.

Hello and thank you for replying!

I have tried these steps as well but unfortunately the same result occurred.

I have attached some screenshots too - as you can see, I have created a new world state where I included the hero I want to delete (one of the 4 that are "stuck" and can't be deleted); edited all the choices up until Inquisition, saved, logged out, cleared browsing data, logged back in, tired to delete the hero, got error.

I only tried this in Edge this time, but I seriously doubt that there will be any luck in another browser as I tried these same exact steps prior to raising this topic, on a different hero from one of these 4 and I got the same result (when I tried that, I did it in Chrome)

So basically the only thing left now if for the team to delete those stuck heroes? (it seems that the issue is with DAO, I can delete heroes in DA2 and DAI without any problems). Also, those heroes were created some years ago, when I was able to actually log into the EA Servers, whereas now I'm no longer able to do so (probably the reason why the character that I have created for my most recent playthrough from 1 month ago did not sync in Keep at all, along with the achievements, and I had to manually modify my active world state to reflect the choices I did, so that I can import them into DAI).

I purchased Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition through Steam, along with the other titles, and played the games so far through Steam (Steam account is successfully linked with EA App as well, as I have checked this when trying to troubleshoot this problem).

But these 4 particular heroes that I can't seem to be able to delete, were created when I was running an instance of the game that was acquired for free through Origins (the old EA App) - free week or something of sorts - back in 2015-2017.

I see, alright then. So I guess until the team will update the site there's not much that can be done except for those particular steps, although in my case, I kind of already did that with 2 of the "stuck" heroes and I still could not remove them. It's not much of a biggy indeed, I was able to update the current world state with every choice I did from DAO up until DAI and imported them successfully, but it's more of a OCD trigger, at least for me :D)))

Thank you very much for all the info and your time on this 😉

@SebyX16  For sure, so i asked about the hero, but it is Sat so prob wont hear back til Monday. I want to see if ant issues were reported but when they asked me about current issues, no one mentioned anything like this so I am trying to find a way around it. I think its just a corrupted sync but that is backend data.
