[Keep] Loss of Progress After Account Changes

I've been playing Dragon Age since 2004 and have been using Dragon Age Keep to track all my choices from Origins, Dragon Age 2, and Inquisition. Recently, I changed my EA account username and my Google account last name, but my email remained the same. When I tried to log in to EA, I had trouble, so I contacted EA support to change my last name in my EA account to match my Google account, which they did.

However, when I logged in to my Dragon Age Keep to check my tapestry and character choices, everything had vanished. My characters, my choices—all gone. I contacted EA again to inquire what had happened and if they could help. They kept asking about my saved games, but I clarified that the issue wasn't related to saved games, as I've changed PCs multiple times since 2004 and have never experienced anything like this. Even when I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game on different systems, my Dragon Age Keep progress was always preservedwhich is why this sudden disappearance of my characters and choices is so perplexing and frustrating. Unfortunately, they couldn't help me and advised me to share my predicament in this forum.

If anyone knows why this happened and how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate your help ❤️.
  • @Ametri8 There isn't a separate platform account for Origin and the EA app. Origin is the old platform not an account. As it was replaced by the new EA app, it isn't a separate platform.

You cannot delink it. You can change the email you use to log into your EA account, but there is no delink for that. You can only delink consoles, Steam, Epic, etc.

Even changing the main email only changes how you log in, so I am not entirely sure what they had you delink, unless you mean to change the email you use to log into your EA account.

Your Keep data is not associated with Google in any way. Your keep data is linked to the EA account and the game data is linked to that EA account. Google has nothing to do with the keep data nor is it used to link data.

If that data is gone from the keep, you would have to resync it through the replay option, or manually go into the keep and make the decision to import into a world state.

@Ametri8 I have been working on DA and the Keep since DAO and there are a few things that can affect data, but those mostly revolve around you delinking a platform from your account.

So, changing your name, ID, phone number or email should not have any effect on the keep because the keep itself syncs data from saves, achievements, DLC, etc. Not personal info like your EA ID.

When you log in, on the left side you can click on "Replay Startup" and looks like this:

Once it syncs up, it should then just import all decisions, unlocks, etc even if you deleted the saves.

The second way is to manually make the decision. This is longer but ultimately will do the same as the above. I do like this way because it allows me to make different choices for different world states.

In all, when data is "deleted" as you stated, there isn't a way for us to reset the keep to the way a player had it. It will require you to sync the data with the account again.

    Hello EA_Shepard,

I appreciate your assistance in addressing the loss of my Dragon Age Keep data. During troubleshooting for my EA account, your support team suggested that I unlink and relink my Google account due to login issues with Google single sign-on after updating my last name on my Google account.

Could this unlinking and relinking process have resulted in the deletion of my Dragon Age Keep information?

Your insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

@Ametri8 That depends on the account itself. In order to lose progress, you have to delink the platform, so if you use a Gmail linked to Steam, Xbox, etc, then yes.

The Google account had to be linked to a platform. The keep uses your EA log-in, so what specifically was the Google account linked to?

    Hello EA_Shepard,

Thank you for responding to my previous message. I just wanted to let you know that my Google account was linked to my primary platform for EA games, which is Origin. I used my Google account to log in to Origin and access all my games and features, including Dragon Age.

Regarding the Dragon Age Keep, I understand that it uses the EA login. However, I believe that my Keep data was associated with my Google account, which was connected to my Origin account. I'm not sure if this means that my progress is lost.

I hope this information helps clarify the situation. Please let me know if you require any additional details.

Doing some follow-ups on these issues. As we've not heard back from you in a while, we're hoping that means the game has been working for you and you no longer need assistance. we'll close out this thread here.

If you continue to have issues with the game, please start a new thread, or tack onto an existing one!

Thanks for your post, and safe travels across Thedas!

    Cheers!
