Microphone not working in Multiplayer(PC)

Having the same issue.  It would be really nice if there was any kind of microphone setup tool in game or Origin that allowed for seeing exactly what is going there.

I'm assuming as is it either picks the mic up or not an then automatically sets the volume levels however it wants?

If you check your Control Panel > Sound options, can you check that your headset/mic is set as the default device? Perhaps somehow when the game is running your PC is trying to use something else as the default sound capture? Then perhaps when Skype starts, it uses the mic as the main capture device, activating it in the game too

Yup - it's definitely the default device once it it plugged in, and I've verified through the control panel.  I've checked and nothing seems to "happen" once skype is loaded either.  It seems like every application (except Dragon Age) recognizes it as a default device.  I'm only able to trick Dragon Age into recognizing it if I'm running skype in parallel. 

I also cannot get my mic to work with DAI. Scratch that, ANY of my mics. USB or minplug, doesn't matter if I use my soundcard or onboard sound. Disabling everything BUT the mic in question. Altering options on the mic (say, disabling exclusive control, or enabling it). Running DAi as admin, disabling programs that might possibly interfere, ENABLING programs that might interfere (never tried voice recognition before on my PC before). I've tried everything. I even tried to mickey around with the "GstAudio.VoipBehavior" (no clue what it actually does in game, but it seemed worth a shot) option in the profile config. I was hoping the patch today would do something, but nada. And I am at my wits' end.

I can get mics to work in everything else, including the Origin Beta Voice Chat and ME3. But DAI refuses to use anything, and because frostbite and it's sad excuse for config files and it's even more sad and meager options in the menus continue to be arcane voids of non-information, I can't seem to figure out what could possibly be causing it.

Same problem here, worked fine before the patch.

After the Patch yesterday DA:I does not seem to recognise the microphone or any recording device for that matter.

My mic works fine in teamspeak, skype, mass effect 3 mp or even origin voice chat - just not ingame, DA:I mp.

Glad to know its not just me.

p.s. the Skype workaround did not work for me either.

Have you guys at least checked to see if it auto-switched to push-to-talk for the patch?

Post-patch the issue seems to have resolved itself - push to talk seemed to function correctly at least for a couple matches, and I didn't have to use the skype workaround.

I did notice that if I was on both Skype and Dragon Age, the push to talk functionality went away, my Mic was always on, even with Push to talk enabled in settings.

Yes Runningspec, i did change it back to voice activated (push to talk wasnt working either).

This just started happening to me as well. For no apparent reason. Mic was working fine this morning. Randomly I noticed the speaking icon would not appear when I spoke into my mic. I'm using Razer Kraken 7.1 Chromas. I exited the game and tried a few things. Windows recognizes the mic...as I was able to play with voice command options. I wanted to see if Battlefield 4 recognized it but....Battlelog is down. The Headset is about 5 days old. Basically brand new. And I had 0 issues with DAI recognizing my voice until about an hour ago. No clue why. Its set to voice activated..tried push to talk...still nothing. So yeah...what's up with that????

I am having the exact same problem as ctscott. Was working perfectly yesterday. I come online this afternoon and my mic does not want to get recognised in dragon age. 

I checked the mic settings, still default, Windows movie maker, snagit, sound recorder, the works all recognise the mic so I know it does work.. dragon age however does not. 

It works perfectly fine in Mass effect 3, Voice activated is on, no push to talk..
