Need to re-purchase the Deluxe Edition Upgrade on Xbox One?

I bought the Deluxe Edition Upgrade for the 360 just after the game came out, and it's asking me to re-purchase it on the One.  The notes for the latest update say that previously purchased DLC would be free on the newer consoles, but specifically mentions Jaws of Hakkon and Spoils of the Avvar, with no mention of the Deluxe Edition Upgrade.  Since I bought the upgrade from the XBL store, I don't have a preorder code to install the content.

From the notes:

  • If you purchased the Jaws of Hakkon or Spoils of the Avvar DLC pack on your Xbox 360 console, you can download them on your Xbox One console using the same gamertag at no additional charge.

Regarding the content in the Deluxe Edition (which is the content that I bought for the 360):

  • If you have preorder promotional items or Flames of the Inquisition items installed on your Xbox 360 console at the time of the export, you can import the savegame data on your Xbox One console.
  • If you do not have the same content installed on your Xbox One console, the savegame loads, and you must equip alternate equipment and/or armor.
  • If you have the same content installed on your Xbox One console, the savegame loads as it appeared on the Xbox 360 console

Since I currently can't install the deluxe edition content without re-buying the upgrade for the One, it seems that I'm stuck with having to equip alternate equipment even if I import my old save game.

So my question is, do I really have to re-purchase the Deluxe Edition Upgrade, or should that be included in the list of DLC that' you can now download for free if you previously purchased it on the older consoles?  I sincerely appreciate any answers to this dilemma!

i got the PS3 Deluxe Edition, I'm wondering this too

  • New platform, a new copy of the game is required.

This has been true for all versions of the Dragon Age (and ME) series.

The thing is, I already bought physical copies of both the 360 and the One versions of the base game.  In December, I bought the Deluxe Edition Upgrade pack (a purchasable add-on) from the Xbox store for my 360.  Since I didn't have a physical copy of the 360 deluxe edition, I didn't get a code, and so I shelled out an extra $10 for the deluxe content.  I then bought a One in April, and bought the One version of DA:I two weeks ago.

From what I understand, anybody who had a physical copy of the deluxe edition for the 360 can now buy a regular (non-deluxe) copy of the game on the One, then use their 360 deluxe edition codes to add that content to their new consoles.  If that's the case, then why am I being asked to re-purchase the deluxe edition content that *I* already paid for when I bought the $10 Deluxe Edition Upgrade pack on my 360?  It doesn't seem fair giving one group the extra content for free when they upgrade their consoles, and then ask another group to pay twice for the exact same in-game items.  Both groups still had to buy two versions of the base game, just like I've already done.

It seems strange treating the Deluxe Edition Upgrade pack differently than every other digital add-on that you can buy for DA:I.  Why charge twice for this one particular item when everything else (except for the base game) is free if you previously purchased it?

I've been wondering the same thing. Last year I purchased the Deluxe edition version of the game for xbox 360, and today I got the normal version of the game for xbox one. I had thought I could "import" deluxe edition to xbox one, but no. I even tried to write the code again, but I got the message that said it had already been used. Is it really so that you can only re-download the Jaws of Hakkon and Spoils of Avvar for free, but not the Deluxe Edition?

Crossover provisions are limited, and becoming even moreso.  The old platforms are already not being supported at all for the latest of games.

  • I have a similar problem! I recently upgraded to Xbox one, I owned deluxe edition on 360! When I upgraded to Xbox one, I also purchased Dai for Xbox one, except that its the regular edition! I'm hoping a Xbox live gold membership will allow me to transfer the deluxe edition dlc from Xbox 360 to cloud storage then to Xbox one! If not I will have to hunt for a copy of the deluxe edition game! I could download the game to my new console, but I didn't get a lot of storage, so I'd rather have hard copies of games, so I can save on storage space! I was wondering if this course of action would work or not!? I tried using a free gold trial to use cloud, but apparently you need a full gold membership! Thoughts?
