I've been able to play the game for a week with settings on "auto" (ultra and high mostly) with mediocre framerate but stable. I decide to lower some graphic settings and the game starts crashing again. Also I get visual artifacts sometimes (I have two R9 270x on crossfire) in Directx. I pass on Mantle because loading times take like 2 minutes each, and this game has a lot of zoning.
Can't the devs just revert the last patch? I recall the game being stable before this patch, and I'd rather have shiny hair and be able to play.
Installing Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 looks like it did do the trick to get passed the scene where i normally got an "DirectX Device Hung error".
P.S. If that alone does not work. Then maybe removing old Visual C++ installations might be an part of the solution which i did before playing again.

lol i hear ya. i'd rather have the lego-like, plastic-hair-hats, and be able to play the game too.
