Its a canon oversight, in da2 carver lives only if you are a mage hawke; otherwise its bethany--double checked with GameSpot. And its a development flaw on biowares end. In fact in the default world hawke is a warrior and Carver is alive--WTF!! I thought they would have double checked and verified with their previous games.

Hmm so it's only a minor error and Varric SHOULD have mentioned Bethany, I get you, same for the lack of Anders mention but we'll see as I progress 🙂

Default world had Hawke as a mage in my playthrough. I am having the same frustratrion with my import, varric says Carver is alive while my Tapestry clearly shows Bethany alive and Carver dead.

I went to the Keep and exported to DAI and the information loaded correctly.
