Re: Cinematics with missing dialogue and frozen/warping camera cuts?
Okay, for anyone else experiencing this issue I have stumbled accross a solution.
Here are the steps I took, it could be either of these or a combination. Proper troublshooting methods involve trying one solution at a time in order to isolate what exactly solved the issue, but I did several things before testing so I'm not sure what exactly did it. Through a process of elimination hopefully anyone else having this problem can determine which solution actually resolved the problem.
-I uninstalled and re-installed/downloaded the game from Origin.
-before playing the game initially, I had it installed on an old HD (preload). I had bought a new SSD and moved the game to that drive. Perhaps the game doesn't like being moved or it caused some errors, which, uninstalling and re-installing may have fixed said issues.
-I noticed I was running Java 32-bit rather than 64, so I uninstalled Java and re-installed 64-bit Java (I'm running win7 64-bit)
-I changed from trying to use a controller to mouse/keyboard.
-I changed xbox one controllers. I used to game mostly using a day one edition xbox one controller. I had a strange bug where during games my controller would disconnect and immediately re-connect at random (it would make that usb insert sound that windows makes when you disconnect/connect a new usb device). I never really tried to resolve the issue cause it honestly didn't but me that much, but some quick googling led me to others having that problem with their controller on both PC and XBOX ONE consoles. It seems to be a bug with Day One edition controllers. I have a second xbox one controller that is not the day one pack-in and having switched controllers seems to have resolved this issue.
-Thinking it may have been an issue with trying to use a gamepad, I tested the game by choosing mouse and keyboard as my control scheme. Everytihng worked fine. I tried switching to the controller and replaying the beginning sequences again and it also worked fine.
I noticed though that now that everything is working, the problem I was having was causing long load times before every in-game cinematic (for instance, when the bridge is destroyed and you fall with Cassandra during the first combat encounter. With the issue resolved, I now realize that most of these cinematics do not even HAVE any load screens... it just immediately cuts from gameplay to cinematic seemlessly. Strange.
Also I noticed dialogue and WAY more sound effects (ambient and otherwise) that were not present when I was having the initial problem.
Hopefully any one else experiencing these problems can find some kind of correlation between my situation and determine which of these workarounds may work for you.
