Re: closing the rifts
IF you are controlling your created character, then it shouldn't be an issue as far as I know, but if you are trying to set them to an action and then move to another, I doubt it will work. For whatever reason I can't get characters to remember actions once I leave them. So if I tell Solas to light a blazer, then move to Sera, Solas will forget the command and run over to Sera. Crappy programming in that respect. But if I tell Solas to light a blazer and stay on him and unpause the game, he will light the blazer fine.
As far as rifts go...they are closed only after combat, so it really shouldn't make a difference honestly, just jump into real time, close the rift and move on.
