Re: DA Inquisition: texture flickering in SLI/Crossfire configuration

As I've said before, with my 295x2, changing the API from Direct X to Mantle solved the grass and terrain flickering (now the moon in the wastes sometimes gets this issue, but you can barely see it). Don't know for NVidia users, but it worked quite well for me. Still with the white fog though...

Experiancing this issue with 560 ti 448 SLI, regardless of settings. Completely unplayable.

  • Put here:

    - video card model (ex. NVIDIA GTX 690)

    - video driver version (ex. NVIDIA 347.09 beta)

    - and link to the video with a demonstration of the problem. When placing video, do not forget to leave there a link to this forum and the forum nvidia (for nvidia users).
I'll stick this info in the first message.

NVIDIA users also please put same info here:

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/789856/geforce-drivers/dragon-age-inquisition-major-issues-on-nvidia-hardware-/16/

Maybe it will attract more attention to the problem.

nVidia and AMD are both telling its users that they are trying to work with BW on this issue.  What's curious, though, is that BW has not commented publicly on this issue to my knowledge.  This issue was brought up at launch, documented in vendor driver releases, and Bioware has released two patches without any mention of the issue.  I don't know if they're pretending this isn't a problem and just ignoring it or what their intentions are.  Seemingly, they are just ignoring this problem.

  • Can you provide prof of this "nVidia and AMD are both telling its users that they are trying to work with BW on this issue."?

    Sure, right here http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDCatalyst14-11-2-BetaWINReleaseNotes.aspx

    Says "

AMD is currently working with BioWare to resolve the following issues:

    • Flickering is sometimes observed in Dragon Age: Inquisition on a limited number of surfaces in AMD CrossFire™ configurations."

nVidia has it in their release notes as well

  • Thanks shadywack.

On the one hand it inspires cautious optimism (message from AMD), on the other hand I have not found a similar message from NVIDIA. But NVIDIA still has not fixed the bug in DA2. 😕mileyfrustrated:

    NVIDIA

    • [SLI], GeForce 500 series, [Dragon Age II], DirectX 11: Shadows flicker in the cutscene when SLI is enabled. [849235]
  • Ahh I must have been mistaken then, the DA2 bug was what I was referring to.

Given, however, that the behavior is identical between AMD/nVidia multi-gpu configurations that fixing this bug for one side will also handle the other.

Even when using Mantle I occasionally see flickering on my 295x2.

  • Still wondering if EA/Bioware is ever going to publicly comment on this issue.
