Does the Windows control panel recognize the Xbox controller? Have you tried different USB ports?

Could you post a screenshot of your Windows control panel as well? Does Windows recognize it as a generic controller or as an Xbox controller?
I tried an Xbox 360 controller once that somehow didn't get recognized as an Xinput controller, which this game requires.

I'm not sure what screen that is, but it doesn't say much.
You have to find "Devices and Printers" in Windows. This is under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound.

And do you actually have 3 controllers or is that Windows flipping out?
Does the light on the Xbox controller indicate that you're player 1? (see image) I've had this problem before in a game where I couldn't use my controller because it was set to player 2. This is something that can happen if Windows detects multiple controllers.

You could try that, but I doubt it will help.
Something that does miracles now and then is to delete the file ProfileOptions_profile in your save folder (in Documents > BioWare > Dragon Age Inquisition > Save). This resets all your game settings.
What are the risks of do that
- I don’t know what happened but for some reason now the game is recognising the controller but I don’t know if that’s gonna last so what I’ll do is for now keep this open until I am 100% sure that this does not happen again plus if anyone else has this problem thay ask on my topic for help rather than creating a new one for the same problem
