Yeah that's the right bug, the screenshot in the original post shows it as well (impressed by imgur that it's still up).
@kiyuma Try this and let us know if that works, I'd be curious to see if there is a solution after all after so many years :P

Hello guys, as a matter of fact I just tried the "enable v-sync" solution and it works like a charm.
Thanks a lot !

Tried the "v-sync" solution on Windows 10 with the Steam version of Dragon Age: Origins, and it didn't work for me, unfortunately.
So I was able to get this to work on windows 10. But it was kind of random. I checked vsync, it was already enabled. So I disabled it, reloaded the encounter with the king, then the same bug happened. In my frustration, i zoomed out the camera and clicked wildly on gorim while my character was in the corner of the cell and it started the conversation. GL to anyone else trying this!
I changed my resolution, and that is what worked for me. No clue why.
The trick is to get your frames at 60 or below. The event of him walking to the cell door is tied to the frame rate, so if you're above 60, he stops short. Typically V-sync will lock to 60, but it might not. You can set the framerate cap to 60 in the nvidia control panel. not sure how to do this for AMD
I found the solution! Use the console command: runscript rubberband
TLDR for ultrawide users:
Windows settings: 2560x1080 resolution with 60Hz refresh rate
Game settings: 1920x1080 resolution with v-sync ON.
To add to this, v-sync on does not seem to be the only thing required. I am on an ultrawide with a resolution of 2560x1080 and a refresh rate of 144Hz. For me, the fix was to use the in-game settings for v-sync set to ON and a game resolution of 1920x1080. Then I had to drop my Windows display settings to 60Hz refresh rate on my ultrawide, keeping 2560x1080 Windows resolution. If I kept 144Hz, then when the game launched it would not fill the entire monitor and left vertical black bars on the left/right side, and Gorim would not walk far enough. If you have vertical bars, drop your refresh rate to 60Hz in Windows and that should get you fixed up.
However, with these unnatural settings, the dialogue options don't show for the ensuing conversation. To get them to show, you can toggle back and forth between windowed and fullscreen mode by using the Alt + Enter keybind each time options are presented to you.
On full HD, activating V Sync works.

I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

On windows 11, with v sync already enabled and Gorrim was still stopping short. I tried going into the corner, zooming out the camera and trying to talk to gorrim and it worked instantly.
