Well they don't mention it, but look at screenshots and gameplay vids on the internet and you'll see that it's always been that way. 🙂

That's a terrible design choice. Why forcing players to interrupt their gameplay by constantly having to check with the map instead of giving them a handy tool to instantly see where they are? I mean: your own location is even being shown on the map, so what would it hurt or take away from the challenge to simply add a real minimap?
