In the Nvidia control panel, go to 'manage 3D settings' and make sure the game is forced to use the Nvidia GPU. Otherwise the PC might not switch from integrated graphics to the dedicated GPU.
If that doesn't work and you have a recent Nvidia graphics driver, try an older version instead (after uninstalling the current driver). It wouldn't be the first time an Nvidia driver breaks a game. Dragon Age II, for instance, doesn't function properly on any Nvidia driver that came out in the past year.
