Ok, so a little Googling found two different things to try.

1)  Change video options to "Windowed" mode (just to trigger the script) and try again.  If success, great!  If not, try reducing screen resolution settings. and try again.

2)  If you have Shale in the party with the "Hurl Rock" ability, use Shale to knock Avernus into the right position.
